Should I get E6?

Should I get E6?

Heard a lot of problems. Especially the notification light.

Can someone tell me if the new batch of phones have this bug fixed?

Also is the phone laggy sometimes?

Re: Should I get E6?

I was an early adopter, had the e6 on test during the weekend, and was quite satisfied, so i bought it.

unfortunately, weekend was too short period to notice all of the things that bother me now.

Sh**y vibrate - i don't feel it - ever. it's useless, so i have to have my phone with sounds on

Non-existent notification light - ok, yeah, it does exists if you are in a cave with no lights whatsoever, than you would be able to see a glimpse of mililumens.

No notification for email on home screen - which is a disaster, becase the purpose of this phone is business segment - which read emails all the time. I have to manually check. Drives me crazy

Buggy software - Oh nokia, why don't listen to my brains... each time a get a business nokia phone early from the start, the software updates take about half a year, when the device is actually usable. Of course, they manage to f*** up the battery life...

For example, i have wifi turn on all the time, but still i have to manually select already saved wifi spots...

Positive things - screen is good, battery life is OK. That's about it.

In conclusion - think about it, if you have an option, test it for a few days.

Or even better, do you want slightly used silver E6? I'm selling it.

Sound and talk quality is excellent.

Extremely good connectionto  3g/wLAN network.

Very good camera.

Fast email and document opening

No lagging

Very sharp screen.

Nokia GPS

Very good sync options with thunderbird and outlook, over the air options with your ovi and by usb/bluetooth. I think the features that nokia is offering is far better than other brands.

the solid construction of course and that you can navigate and write with one hand.

Hot swop for the memory card.

i personaly love QWERTY and it can´t be better than the E6:s.

Re: Should I get E6?

Thanks, was going to get the new blackberry 9900 but I don't want to get those expensive blackberry data plans.

I used to own the E72, and I've been having problems with it before, so I got an android phone instead.

I really like the design on the E72 and might consider going back to Nokia for the E6, but after looking at the discussion board with so many problems, I kind of changed my mind again. Nokia fail to listen and fail to improve their phones.

What phone should I get? I really want a qwerty phone =(

I forget to mention;

Never hangs after two month. perhaps it has happened 2 times...and the file browser is very fast when I want to search for files on the phone.

I also use the file browser for logging into my NAS server by 3G and WLAN when receiving and sending files.

The file browser using webdav so it is very useful for me that store files on a NAS Server and often are on the move far away from the office/home.....

The issues you are reading about regarding notificationlight will be solved. And frankly I don´t think it is a big issue. For me it is more of a nice feature that is more cosmetic. If I am not hearing the messages or the missed calls the phone is off cause I am in a meeting so when the meeting is over I surely will kick the phone on again....so the thing is, I will not "miss" any calls or sms/emails...well that is my opnion and it seems also that the update in firmware for the "next Anna" is closer than we think.

Re: Should I get E6?

I asked the same question a few weeks ago, the comments on this thread should give you more insight before you purchase.

Re: Should I get E6?

Thanks everyone.

I might wait until they fix these small problems before I get this phone.

Is it true that there are no notifications when an email is received? If that is true, then no point getting this, as I would mostly use email on this phone.

Re: Should I get E6?

You can set an acoustic alarm (ringtone, beep, klick etc.) for emails arriving.

However, you can't set a notfication light, only for SMS and missed calls (how stupid). However, even if you could, you wouldn't see it, due to the well known notification light issue.

I am trying to get over the period of not having a fix for that issue (providing there will ever be one) by placing the email widget on the home screen, so I can see when a new email has arrived. Still dissatisfying, as the screen is locked and dark most of the time.

Re: Should I get E6?

For me, it's great except for the weak vibration. That sorta solved by itself when I bought the hard casing for it. The Hard case also vibrates along with the phone, so makes the vibrate stronger. I was already planning on buying a case/cover for it, not because of the weak vibrate issue.

The notification light is not a problem for me, I normally have it in my pocket during work hours & if I'm not home. At home, there's the sound.

I love the great video resolution and that it could play all files I wanted - Avi, Mp4, divx, wmv, mkv, even rmvb.

Lagging issues - only if the Firewall is up on anti virus, F-secure, Kaspersky. I unstalled the Kaspersky, disabled the Firewall and live scan on F-secure.

Battery life - Many E72 owners complained about battery life, esp those who use push email a lot. Those who dont, like me, only need to charge it 2 days once.

Basically, the E6 fullfills all that I wanted it to perform.
If you are not in a hurry to get a qwerty phone, you can always wait & see if there're software upgrades.

There is sound & vibrate notification for emails - email notication sound is different from sms/missed calls. There is also an email widget on the homescreen where all new emails will show in bold. But no notification light for email, unless you buy an app called "Remind Me" from Ovi Store.
