I noticed when I reset E75 using *#7370# applications, call log and contacts are not erased from the phone. As far as I know all other Nokia phones do default back to factory default settings when using *#7370#.
- Is this a bug?
- Any other method to bring back the E75 to factory default settings?
We use this approach for (formal acceptance) testing purposes to always start a test under the exact same conditions.
The firmware version is:
Software version
110.48.125
Software version date
28-05-09

no it is not a bug, newer nokia phones actually have UDP - user data preservation and most of the content stays intact
your only way to wipe data is to use the hard reset last option on this list
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
NOTE: In front of the hash key ( #) there is also a STAR key that people often miss and state that the code does not work.
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data) Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

I used the in-phone factory settings in the control panel, your code 12345 and it worked. I still had my contacts, and all wireless/bluetooth settings. Also, an annoying app (GIZMO) that would not go away, even though un-installed, was now gone.
Thank you!

Heh it is the problem because you had to set it but you forget
(or somebody else but it is unlikely)
There are three ways to solve your problem:
1, to remember
2, format your memory card (you lost all data)
3, go to Nokia Care Point (but I think they can unlock memory card up to 1GB)

Hi,
I'm also having the same problem.
I did hard reset after removing memory card and then when I insert memory card it is asking password., I did not set any password before.
It seems a bug, Pls help someone, I did not backup memory card since I removed it before hard reset.

WATCH OUT!! There is definatly a bug. I changed my lock code back to 12345, Turned off remote locking, checked my memory card was unlocked and unencripted. Remove memorycard, did the full reset (not just the factory settings). When I put the memory card back in it is asking for a password. Also cant read it with a memory card reader, so obviously there is a password there that isnt supposed to be there.
If you are planning to reset, back up all data from your memory card too and expect to have to reformat.
Fun!

Hi Nokia Support Team,
After doing *#7370#,i faced a problem that whenever i am going to open Memory card than a msg comes that Memory card is locked.i didn't put any code for memory card and now also i try 12345 and 00000 default passwords but all in vain.
Kindly help me out how to unlock my memory card or restore my data from memory card.
Thanks in advance for your prompt response.
