I recently got an E71. It was all fine until this morning, when I noticed most of my contacts had disappeared. However when I check my text messages the contacts are still list under name rather than just number, which is what I would expect to have happened if there was no details left of those contacts. I am assuming that in order for the names to still display, there must be some trace of them somewhere on the phone.

I have no idea what is going on, or why this has happened. Is there anyone out there who may know? Anyone have a solution or advice? Help much appreciated.

True, check the SIM contact list, mark all and copy to contacts (phone). In fact, you have more than one contact list. I know, it's confusing, but in the phone's contact list you can add more details, like e-mail, etc.... You can check the list using PCSuite. You can also sync with Outlook.
