I bought an E72 in mid October. It came with the firmware version 31.xxxx (am i right ?). After a couple of days there was an update available & i updated to the version 51.018 using the ovi suite. And that is when the troubles began.
After the update i restarted the phone to see if it was booting up faster. I was shocked to see my phone restarting immediately after the boot ! I downloaded some apps from ovi store & most of them simply restart my phone when opened : Ovi Maps, Dictionary, games, anything (I never used any apps with the old firmware. So cant really say if its due to the new firmware). The solution ? I just stopped using them. My phone has become a lot stable now. It doesn't freeze much these days and the restarting has greatly reduced.
The phone is great & i love it but then there are a few BUGS:
1. WiFi doesn't work properly ! Every time i try to connect it shows "system error" ! I have to use a third party application to use the WiFi because the phone's built-in app simply refuses to connect. At times the phone just restarts if i try to connect !
2. This one is a weird problem. Whenever there is some music playing & if i try to open the opera mini browser, the phone restarts. This happens every single time ! But the same doesn't happen if the browser is open & then the music is played. What is happening ? :-/
3. I don't know whether to call this a BUG or not. There is no option to turn off the shutter sound of the camera, It still sounds even in the silent mode !
I am tired of suggestions like check if too many apps are open or the phone might have ran out of memory or the phone might be busy when accessed !
The Nokia Care is of no use because all they know is to install the firmware and give the phone back. Well there are BUGS in the firmware (or is it the Hardware all together ?). I hope some senior official of the firmware developers team reads & takes feedback so that the phone can be tested extensively & the bugs can be fixed !

There is a little app that you can install on the E72 and mutes the camera sound. I don't know where it is but can email it to you if you want. Has been working since the first firmware and still works in the current one (even in unhacked phones). I don't recal if it is signed or not however... maybe it is or I signed it some time ago and don't recall.
The rest of the problems I do not have. But after 3 firmware upgrades I came to the conclusion that while the phone does not lose data, it gets a bit strange sometimes and people report weird events. My previous upgrade had lots of those (like non-functional log and not being able to add some numbers to speed dials) and they only disappeared after a hard reset.
If you be bothered to backup properly, it appears to be a good ideal to hard-reset the phone after upgrade firmwares.
