Hi there, thank you for all the valuable info! I really don't understand why NOKIA didnt include the voip settings in the phone... and why make it so difficult to install voip on the phone..
I have a huge problem, I bought an E52 as a replacement for the E51 but was surprised that VoIP doesnt want to work.I have used several BETAMAX (voipdiscount.com/jumblo.com/telbo.com,etc,etc) accounts with my E51 before, without any problems. When I put the SAME sip settings in my E52, it would connect to the service fine. However, when I try to make an internet call, the phone is not doing anything - just "acting like"making a call for as long as i cancel it but no ringing, no voices. Can someone help me as to why the same settings dont work on E52? Or is there anything else that I need to change in the sip settings??
Any advice is much appreciated!
Thank you

Hey there I have found the solution for betamax with nokia e52.... its almost the same as the settings for E51.
You have to use the same settings for both the registrar and the proxy servers. (of course you have to use your own login details)
For me it is working.
If you need detailed info, just write here and I will post a step-by-step setup for you.
Have a nice day!

There are a few steps to enable VOIP calling on the E52:
1. Download and install SIP VoIP 3.x Settings http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d4
2. Create New SIP account in Ctrl Panel>Settings>Connection>SIP settings (eg. Using Pennytel's E65 settings guide: https://www.pennytel.com/doc/nokia_e65.pdf)
3. Activate AWCDMA to allow VoIP calls over 3G network (not just WiFi)
a. Control Panels>Net Settings>Advanced VoIP settings>
b. select service you created in step 2 – eg pennytel
c. Scroll to "AWCDMA" and set it to "on"
4. Choose a contact from the normal Contacts menu, right scroll and choose Make Internet Call
I only want to use VoIP occasionally, so it's a little annoying that every time I switch my phone on I get asked if I want to connect to a WLAN. Can I turn off this automatic connection?

Att Pennytel setup and E65 are not the same as E52 .In E52 You must use the same definitions to proxy and registrar servers.

I can't figure out how to make working my Nokia E52 with nonoh.net for regular phone numbar calls.
For nonoh to nonoh call it's working, but when i try to make a regular call over VoIP doen't ring the phone, no sound nothing.
I have credit in my nonoh.net account.Nonoh it's from Betamax.
I've setup Proxy server the same with Registrar server also, but without any succes.
That 2 icons appears near to battery.WI-FI sign and the Internet Call sign.
Just the Netcall doesn't work for a normal call, only for nonoh to nonoh call.
What should i do ? What's the problem?Why doesn't work? What i did wrong?
Anyone can help me?
thank you

Hey
change your SIP profile settings like this for voipdiscount (the same applies to all BETAMAX services as well - using with their own domain names of course - eg voipdiscount.com/jumblo.com/poivy.com etc etc)
PROFILE NAME: voipdiscount
SERVICE PROFILE: IETF
DEFAULT DESTINATION: Internet (I use wifi)
DEFAULT ACCESS POINT: none
PUBLIC USER NAME: yourvoipdiscountusername@voipdiscount.com
USE COMPRESSION: No
REGISTRATION: When needed or always on (whatever you prefer)
USE SECURITY: No
PROXY SERVER SETTINGS:
Server Address: sip.voipdiscount.com
Realm: voipdiscount.com
User name: yourvoipdiscountusername
Password: yourvoipdiscountpassword
Allow loose routing: Yes
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060
Use exactly the same settings for the REGISTRAR SERVER AS WELL!
I hope it works out for you as well!
Ciao

Today my e52 is died.
No experiments, just normal usage.
I am disgusted about being miused as test user for a half-baked produkt being sold before adequaturely tested.
This was my 2nd nokia and surely the last one.

Could it be that you've missed that you need to install the 'SIP VoIP 3.x Settings' software? brilliantthings has a good post about it above.
I believe you need version 3.1. See http://www.forum.nokia.com/Technology_Topics/Mobil

I tried to follow to recommendations in this tread. I have no trouble setting up the sipaccount, and I have previus used my 3th party VOIP (MUSIMI) with my Nokia E66 and nokia E51 without any problems.
I have installed the SIP VoIP Settings applications as recommended, but without any luck. During the installation I got a popup that said that the software not was for this phone, but I got it installed anyway. The problem is that I didn´t get any "advanced Voip settings". The phone has two preinstalled VOIP opportunities GIZMO7 and VYKE VOIP with seems to be the only thing I can use.
Any surgetions?

You need to make sure you download the right version for the E52. The one that should work (as I also have an E52) is named SIP_VoIP_3_x_Settings_v2_0_en.sis.
Good luck.
