Hello I'm a new user to nokia E72, though i have been using nokia phones for about 5 years now.

when i receive a text message while my e72 was switched off, it doesn't show the exact time the sender sent the message. instead it shows the time the text message receieved to my phone when i switch on my device... as an example..i swtiched off my phone at 10pm night and my friend sent me a message at 11 pm.. and then i switch on the phone again at 12 midnight...and i recieve his message at 12.01am...and in it time stamp it shows the message receieved at 12.01am instead the correct time when my friend sent me the message at 11pm....i have checked this with other nokia phones example 6630 and so on. in them it shows the exact time the sender sent the message....what's wrong in my nokia E72? how can i correct it..??

please help...

thanks..

Re: Nokia E72 text message received time faulty...

ok try menu /control panel/settings/general/date and time/ look at time zone 1st is the correct time zone your phone is set too
then scroll down to auto time update select on this is a network dependant feature

you can try a reset aftrer this if nothing works

Re: Nokia E72 text message received time faulty...

S60 phones always show the time the message was received, not necessarily when it was sent. If the phone was switched off when the message was sent, they it is always the time when the phone was switched on (i.e. when the message was effectively received) that you will see.

Re: Nokia E72 text message received time faulty...

I have somehow the same problem...

when i receive a message; in inbox it shows two hours and 3 minutes ahead

e.g.

when i send a message from my other (or any other cell) cell to my E72 at 1400 it will show 1603 in my inbox on the same time

remember that both cells have same times and are auto update with network

does the network support auto update?your phones time may not be actually in sync with network

I have a similar problem, when i recieve a text it only shows the date and not the time, it was working before but just stopped. Have just downloaded the latest software today 26th Sep and checked all settings as advised on this page but still no time. Has anybody else had this problem and resolved it ???

Re: Nokia E72 text message received time faulty...

This phone is driving me nuts.

Still no resolution to this issue.

By the way the phone starts showing correct time and as soon as i give it a restart it starts acting up again :smileysad:

probably the worst thing to happen in a smart phone

Re: Nokia E72 text message received time faulty...

I would suggest you try a diffrent SIM card in your phone, with a completly different phonenumber.

turn off the phone and try and send a text message to the phone.  What for a while and start the phone and see if this happens again, with a totally diffrent SIM card and totally diffrent phonenumber.

This way you can make sure this is not something related to the operator/carriers service.

Could be an issue with the SMS services at the operator level, and concerning your number.

If the phone don't get the any timestamp information from the messaging server, the phone just put a time in there .

If this is the case, the behaviour should not happen with a diffrent phonenumber or SIM.

Re: Nokia E72 text message received time faulty...

Thanks for the reply

BUT this is not the case (with me, at least)
My phone messes up the following after a reboot

 - timestamp of incoming SMS (5 to 6 hours ahead)

 - Contact Name does not appears with the newly received SMS

And I bear this for a day or 2 AND magically my phone starts acting normally.

Contact Names start showing up with current timestamp for newly received SMS.

I am feed up of this device

This is what I am talking about

Image 1 is the screenshot of the home page, it shows the name of the sender correctly but doesnot show the correct time
Image 2 shows the inbox view where neither the name is appearing nor the time is correct.
