I just "upgraded" to the E72, which replaced my E71, that itself was replaced by an E61i.

I can't say it any clearer, the E72 is a major disapointment...

The new version of MFE is very unfriendly;

- There is no option for Plain Text. Not everybody wants (or can have) HTML, our IT department has restricted HTML on mobile devices (so you cannot download long mails), and for good reason, with HTML you are downloading more data (more $$$) and any malicious link is right there ready to be clicked. Not a problem with the E71...

- It's nice that I you now see all the other folders; Outbox, Sent Items, Junk, etc. but this means even more data downloaded, again more $$$... Let me be clear about this, i'm not a cheapskate, I spend most of my time abroad and if you have to pay roaming charges on downloads, you start to care about these things...

- The menü layout is too complex compared to the E71, with MFE being separated from the other messaging functions; SMS, MMS...

- I can't see the connection status, or get a log of the last sync.

- There is no Out Of Office feature on this device, just cause it's in the manual, doesn't mean you actually get it...

- When you mark a mail unread it doesn't appear on the home screen as unread, what's the point of that? Hello?

- The home-key for email doesn't take you to the inbox, it takes you to the email menu, unless you completely exit out of MFE first, but that's not a simple step either because....

- The exit button is "hide" so you're not actually closing MFE...why?

- MFE is in the firmware, I can't remove it and install a previous (better) version.

The whole point of a phone like the E72 is for fast and effective email, and it's hopeless!

The keypad is a disaster too;

- The new keylock function is stupid, why change from the old method that worked? The keypad is constantly unlocking itself in my pocket.

- The home keys have a raised profile, so you're constantly pressing them by mistake when going for the other keys...

- I have a German keyboard, so maybe this doesn't apply to to the English ones, but the comma and the full-stop are on the same button, with full stop being the primary, you have to use shift to make a comma, hopeless...

I could go on and on...the Themes are awful, the Navi pad is fiddly and temperamental, the menü transitions slow it down, the new Ovi software suite is silly, and so on.

Yes Nokia has fixed a few problems of the E71; the camera is much much better on the E72, you get a proper headphone jack now, but they've messed up the MFE, which as I said before is the most important function of a "business phone".

I'm going back to the E71.

My Nokia E72 often freezes when I try to reply to a text message. It's pretty random but has been observed happening most often when the web browser is also open.

The cursor blinks but nothing can be typed, nor can the text message app be exited. The only way out is a power on / off.

Anybody else have this problem?

I didn't have the problem until the firmware upgrade. Now there is problems - can it be down graded?

I did not have the txt reply freezing issue until I installed and run Fring.  Would this be the problem?

I have been having the same problem for the last few weeks and I have now deleted Fringe just in case. It seems to be doing ok SO FAR... Has everyone else been able to sort out the problem?

real disappointment, all other Nokia's are pretty fine devices, but this is just one disaster after another

i have the same problem. what often works is the home button long press(shows open apps) , then close the messaging app by the backspace button.

I have had the same problem with my E72-2 sofware custom version 031.023.262.05.

It does not only freeze replying to text message but with others applications also.

What I do to keep working with the phone without switching it off is to press power button and selecting remove memory card. Then all applications close and I am able to keep using other feature on the phone not text messaging anymore until I reeboot the phone.

I have tried to reinstall software but it didn't improve anything.

What else should I do?

I recently has similar problems, I had the E72 for over 2 years, its' on 051.018 model E72-1, RM-530, update 21/09/2010

Just now it suddenly turned my theme back to Gold Personal, instead of a personally downloaded one.

Worried it's virus or firmware problem, but after installed Kaspersky mobile security 9.0 , the phone runs even slower and hangs ocassionally.

No firmware update available.

No idea what happen, is it time to get a new phone (no Nokia?)

My second E-72-1 is running the latest firmware, 052.005, and doesn't freeze nearly as much as it used to do. My first E72-1, now my reserve, went stone dead the day after I installed Kaspersky. It impossible for me to say whether Kaspersky was the cause of the crash, but it, too, slowed the E72 to an excruciating crawl before it 'died', then nothing could revive it. It was sent to Nokia's Prague workshops and was away for a month. No explanation was given.

I have very few issues as such with the phone now, even though I have installed a fair number of apps, including Location Tagger, which some have had very poor experiences with.
