Hi,
I'm wondering why my E71 asks for a memory card's password everytime I update the firmware. I have never protected my memory card but this has happened everytime after fw upgrade. And what should I do because I don't know what the password is, tried everything!! Frustrating...
Cheers,
Rauski

Mine too.
Unfortunatley PC suite fails to back up my contacts info, so i backed them up to the memory card.
Now i've updated the firmware and the card is locked, I cannot copy my numbers back.
I have lost 772 contacts with over 1000 numbers & i'm NOT **bleep**ING HAPPY.
This thing is going back, shoulda bought a blackberry

Hi Rauski,
This is possible in case when "Remote lock" is enabled. It will automatically assign the same password which is used for "New remote lock message" Since memory card password is restricted to only 8 digits, the first 8 digit from remote lock message is assigned for memory card.
For example if Remote card message is : "abcdefg1234"
then ,
Memory card password is : "abcdefg1"

thank you so much for this
I searched everywhere and even tho your explanation wasn't exactly that straight forward to understand, after day of trying other sites it made sense
my password was "closedownphone" so I typed in "closedow" and it worked
thanks again

I just got the solution for my Nokia 3110 classic. Hope it will work for others.
My memory card was also asking for password after a firmware update though it was not password protected before upgradation. I tried in many ways. But didn't work. Today I just entered the administrator password of my pc which I generally use to back up data, file transfer, etc. And it worked for me.
Thanks to God. Because the Nokia Care people had already confirmed that this memory card is damaged and I should buy a new one. I had a lot of useful data on my card which I could recovered by myself today.
And yes.. If you are able to get back all your data, please don't forget to remove the password from the memory card by using the option given in the Memory card.

My PC Administrator A/C Name: Raj
My PC Administrator Password: computer
So I entered the exact word "computer" which does not mean just "26678837".
Rather you have to press ' 2 ' - 3 times to get 'c', ' 6 ' - 3 times to get 'o' and so on..
Try again and c if it helps..

I have the same issues with Rauskis and Sudarshanp. After upgrading the latest firmware on the E71, the device prompted me for a password for my memory card. I have never set a password on the memory card and have never set a remote lock password too. Formatting the card is easy but it is the data inside that is more valuable. Does any one has any solution to this. Mr Rauskis and Mr Sudarshanp, did you manage to resolve this similar issue at your end? Any help would be much appreciated.
