I just purchased Nokia E71-2 about this September 2009. My device have problem. After I purchased my E71-2 I want to activate my 3G connection with my service provider, but then nothing that shows 3G at the coverage line bar. But my service provider says its already activate the 3G network, so I go to settings then I've selected "Dual Mode" but seems don't have the 3G at the line bar. So I cannot use to make videocall & browsing internet using 3.5G HSDPA mode. I also try to update the firmware version just to see if the problem fix or not but the Nokia Software Updater cannot update this phones firmware, I don't know whats wrong with the phone . I also try to reformatted (hard reset: Green button + 3 + # then switched it on) the phone. Also the same problem appeared! Then, when I got fed up of this phone problem then I sent it to Repair Centre, then you know what they all say? The CPU is broken and cannot be used! That's why I never have a 3G connection display. Right now i'm still using a 2G mode but not in 3G mode & the problem didn't solve yet because I don't want to use my money BECAUSE I think theres maybe have a lot of FREE SOLUTIONS OUT THERE. Hope you guys help my problem. PLEASE....,PLEASE...., I BEGING YOU ALL TO HELP ME!!!

Stupid question here, are you in North America?
Reason I am asking is that the E71-2 is meant for North American 3G network (850 and 1900 Mhz).

malaysia and an e71-2? i think you need an e71-1 for malaysia in order to use the 3g there.
i would take it back to where you purchased it. the e71-2 has the AT&T US band frequencies for 3g. that is probably your issue...no need to get frustrated over it, just exchange/return the phone. there is nothing you can do about it any more then i want to have 3g on my e90 communicator in the US. ![]()

hi, i have bought new E71-1(14)
when i use UMTC mode i have no signal, only GSM mode is avaible, what it the problem and how can i solve it? im living in Turkey.20-Dec-2009 01:49 AM

If you mean UMTS (3g), it's up to your service provider. When 3g is activated on your phone you have to be in an area with 3g coverage.

Check menu-> tools- settings-> phone-> network-> network mode-> select dual mode or umts.

Hey guys,
E71-2 IS ONLY NORTH AMERICA 3G, it is useless anywhere else.... and there is no way to fix it, hack it or update it to other 3g networks...
