Dear E7 owners,

I have used my brand-new E7 for about a week now. It is an astonishing device, but I have noticed that the loudspeaker does not deliver clear sound when emitting loud high-frequent sound. The best example is the classic Nokia SMS tune, which is stored as "Message 2" in the ringtone list. There is a noise interfering with this tone.

Can anyone confirm this, i.e. if this is a general production fault? Otherwise, my device is damaged and I need to send it back for a replacement.

What volume are you your ringtones set to play on?

I can't say I hear any interferings, but it isn't pure clean either.

If you suspect your device to be faulty or in this case most likely only the loud speaker to be faulty, you could visit a NCP and let them have a look at it. I don't think a swap would be needed, only a replacement of the speaker, hopefully

I found the issue. It is a vibration caused between the two sliding parts of the phone. Sliding the keyboard open removes the issue. Pressing display onto the keyboard forcefully (when closed) does it, too. So I believe that the sliding mechanism does not close properly.

And you were right. I forgot to mention that the issue occurs on medium volume level and above, in my case level 7 and more. It also only occurs when the device is laying on solid ground, i.e. tables etc. A pretty common application of the device, that is why it's so annoying.

My screen does not close totally completely too at the top of the phone, but it's not big of a deal and doesn't be big enough to trigger that issue.

If you feel it is a problem, I would take it to a Nokia care point. Might only be that a replacement of one of them rubber stops which is placed on the phone under the screen can make a difference, or replacing some of the slider mechanism parts.
