After using E90 for many years (2 of them), I thought that it was time to move on and been waiting for the new E series from Nokia. But after buying it I realise that this will be my last Nokia. Problems:

1.Main problem that I am having is after I have set up my e mail accounts. Worked for 1 day. Now none of them sync. It does not receive new e mails, and even when receives it does not update the inbox as the server. The deleted mails remain on phone memory

2.3g conncetion starts by itself, even if I offline everything

3.rotation of the secreen is not fluid.

4.freezes up

5.Does not syn. contact with my cars Bluetooth device.

I am going to send this thing back.

Sorry to hear the problems you're having I have had the exact opposite experience ! Would suggest visiting a Nokia Care Centre and having the handset re-flashed, I know a couple of other E7 users with problems have had them resolved by doing this, it would certainly be worth giving it a try before giving up on the phone ? So far I've had a great experience with the E7 and it's done everything I've asked of it and been very stable and fast !

So maybe someone can help me....My main problem is the E mail.

I have set up my e mail accounts (3 of them) one being Gmail.

Problems with Gmail;

1. I can see the inbox, but I can not read some of the e mails. It says retrieving but than ends up showing a blank page.

2. It does not syncronize with the Gmai server.

3.It takes more than 10 minutes for syncronising. and finally I give up

Business account:

1. I have set up incoming mailserver, outgoing etc..But it does not sync. with the server.

2.Even if I delete e mails from the server, phone keeps the e mails.

3.connection time is incredibily long and at the end there is no syncronising.

Rotation of screen is not fluid? I don't think it is supposed to be. It isn't on mine and it wasn't on my N8.

Hi, try deleting your email accounts totally. Reboot your phone.

When turned on again set up your email accounts one by one again, only this time do not accept the terms and policy things that shows up on your screen. This will give you more freedom with your account, and my 3 accounts - two beeing gmail and one beeing hotmail, works great. It was a tip I got from psychomania here at the forum

Make sure you've also set the right connection settings - e.g internet for incoming and outcoming, and make sure that you have the correct accespoints within connectivity settings under internet.
Of course, If you have already done this, just look away from this post.

Was having trouble with email on my N8. Somewhere on the discussions forum I came across the solution you have suggested. Deleted my email accounts and when setting up again i declined to accept the terms etc and then followed the instructions on the following screens. Since then my email has worked fine. I have three email accounts one being Gmail.

I didn't use gmail in my E90 and was suspicious about it also in E7. I had syncing problems with the server but those were because of the POP protocol used in Gmail. Changed the setting to IMAP in Gmail and now it works ok.

Finally someone who has the same issue like I do. Howis your battery life tho? My gmail sync issues are bad too. Over 10 minutes to sync.

@bazyeo: Thanks mate, but it's all thanks to psychomania. I wasn't aware of this before he told me and it you get greater control over your email accounts. After setting up my emails without accepting the Nokia terms, my emails are syncing fine and does not have any slow downs or freezes.

@arfunnnnn: The battery life of the E7 is not as good as I would wish for. I have set my 3 email accounts to sync every fourth hour between 8am and 10pm. I have 3g on and Gravity running with twitter updating every 30 mins. Other than that I have nothing running in the background, but some days I have to charge it after 10 hours of use. Some days it lasts longer.

I guess there are still possible to improve the battery life and I hope it will get a bit better with a fw update or two.

Other than that I love the device. It's great and its pure quality.

@seppuku: I know, unfortunately I pretty much need to use 3g for browsing and such. Of course this will be a battery drainer, but at the same time I would have expected a few more hours.

I have gone from Galaxy S and HTC desire and started to use the E7 just the way I used those other two devices. Unfortunately I have to change the way I use the phone to one simple thing: Use it less.

5 more hours of the same use would be great. I also think that is possible to do with some better tweaked fw.

The device otherwise is brilliant. Screen awesome, keyboard awesome, call quality and sound from music player is great. Love the phone, struggle a bit with the battery life though.

I feel you. I use the phone pretty much the whole day, sending a lot of e-mails, syncing the mailbox every 15 min, BT HF active, BT sync on and browsing at least once an hour - the battery lasts less than 8h with the normal battery profile, never more. So I ended up using power saving mode to get a full day out of it. I wonder if it's possible to write an N900 like utility app for it where it unloads the 3G module from the memory when you're not using internet actively and reloading it when you go for it.

I have no idea if that's possible. Hopefully a fw update will improve the battery life as the N8 seems to be quite a bit better. I know it has a smaller screen, but I didn' think it should be that much difference.

It should be possible since activating power saving mode does exactly that. The utility would only be a service running in memory and monitoring the usage of the phone, switching to 2G when the screen saver comes on and reloading 3G for checking mail and/or browsing, fetching podcasts or any other data-intensive procedures when WLAN is not available.

€0.99-1.99 would be a perfect price for that kind of app. Every S^3 user would get it.

this was happening to me also. I had a hard reset , (3 of them) and after that it was so much problems that I took it to a service center. and serviceprovider telenor is making connecionproblems even I use ventelo .

Hi every one, I have problem with my E7, it is restaring when I use the mail especially, how ever the processing while shifting between the app. Is so slow, I already use the latest version for my E7, Hope someone help me in this case...

Hi, on my e7 when I received an email on my hotmail account (mail for exchange) and I forwarded it, the person who receive it, received a lot of characters and it`s hard to read it this way....I have check all of the settings but don`t see anything wrong

I will appreciate a hand on this issue

One question about the email settings. I declined the agreement and worked perfetcly, but when i went to change the setting a messaged appear that i had to disconnected the mailbox to me able to change de setting. Well change de setting Im not able no connect the email anymore. In the menu there is no option that says connect or something similar.

Any help please

Worst Nokia ever had!! waited for the E7 for ??? Symbian is just terrible, it keeps rebooting... nothing is compatible.. my Iphone 4 is ages ahead of this thing... what a dissapointment !

will change it to the Samsung Galaxy S2  ASAP...

Nokia... move to windows and fix that problem... or else ur going to be history soon.
