Hi all,

we just received a message from the Eseries team. They informed us that "Nokia will release a firmware update for the E65 in October for most E65 variants."

There's been plenty of discussion here among E65 owners so I hope this helps. We do not have any information about any possible changes that this update will bring but I am sure many of the discussions about the E65 here at Support Discussions have been a valuable source of information to Nokia.

Let's hope that they do honour this and release in Oct, Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

I wonder if this will also kill the mosquito stuck behind the keypad?

But until I see it on the support pages for the E65 I'm not going to hold my breath (I'd be dead)

What about, e50. It is unusable with all the errors in the latest FW. Because it is an older telephone you do not prioritize it?

And when did the last update come out, in june? I got even more angry when nokia launched a new e51 phone and leaving me with this unusable brick.

The "mosquito" won't be fixed by firmware. All three of my smartphones have had it. I think it's caused by the light sensor.

vandelay thank you for posting this information - excelelent news.

I also hope this is not a one off, inside information from Nokia on these sort of problems and their resolution, plus any other info will really make these boards the place to be.

Since you seem to be in contact with the Nokia team, please ask them to release a public change log for the E65 firmware... and even all firmwares. And also please find out from them if they have any intention of releasing new firmware for the E70.

At the moment Nokia does not publish change logs nor schedules for any product-specific updates.

E65 was an exception since there seemed to be so much concern over whether it will be supported by NSU at all (as it's not yet listed at www.europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate).

I bought my E65 on July 7th, used it for 3 weeks at which point it broke due to phone startup failure. I've gone through Nokia service (via Vodafone) and am now on my third attempt at a fix. That's right third attempt! They take it away from me, 25 days later they send me a "fixed" phone, I reproduce the problem instantly and return it to Nokia service. Now I'm supposedly getting a new one but am scared it will have one of the bugs discussed on the discussion boards as my phone at the least never had those problems.

Point is, it'll be nice to have a firmware update once I finally do get my phone back.

What a horror story. I bought it back on July 7th and haven't had it in my possession since the end of July!!

I just want to play with my new phone!

only one question:
I've had a 6680, N7, N73 and now for profesional use a e65 since january. I have just been asked about to change this device for a Palm 500v with realmail and Ms messenger like this mobile, so I need to know which problems will solve this firmware update and when exactly we can update it with NSU... I have to make a decission before end of october...

Upgrade the firmware for my E65 last night (product code 0545561) from HK.

No major changes notices, maybe a bit faster and more stable but a major bug that has come about is the WLAN scan turns on randomly and VERY frequently. I'm talking about every 15 minutes are so all day & night long.

Never had this issue and don't know why the WLAN is turning on by itself.

I'm also update the NOKIA E65 and me too whe WLAN start search randomly. I do'nt know why.I'm shut down him and after 15 minutes he start search again, but it is the only problem that I see.
