@ 50percent
Yes, I have the same setup! It used to work great, but suddenly the lights are very dim and the blinking can only be noticeable in the dark. When using the phone, those keys light up very brightly, so they're not broken.
I don't know what to do ![]()

This are good news ! I was at a Nokia Care Point today here in Germany - they not know anything about a new keypad, but they will order one and look, if something has changed.
I will report if this was successfull ...

The notification light being too dim problem is fixed by an improved keymat version. The solution is about to come available in the Nokia Care points soon. The Care points will be informed about this solution within a couple of days from now and they will then be able to help you in getting the problem fixed.
It should be noticed that there are still delays before the improved keymat version is available in all Care points globally, so they might not be able to provide immediate fix in all countries.

Will you tell us how to identify a new E6 that has the modification applied already - perhaps by a different part number or similar? Assuming that you will change your production processes accordingly, to start producing "good" devices, now that you have the improvement ready.
Just for those who held back buying an E6 because of that problem, and who don't want to go through an unspeakable 3 weeks repair cycle at Nokia Care, right after buying?

OK forgive my naivity to expect an answer for my question on how to identify improved units - before buying another malfunctioning device - and having to bring it for a three weeks repair session to Nokia Care right after picking it up from a dealer.
But what is EQUALLY IMPORTANT to get a fix for, is to allow for alerts TO BE SET FOR NEW EMAIL! This was not possible on the E6, unlike the E71, E72 etc.
I think this was forgotten over all the excitement over the lights not being visible. A changed D-pad by itself is not really enough of a solution, without being able to set an alert for email. My assumption is that email notifcation is the most important alert to be delivered to users. Just sms and missed calls is not enough.

Ok, so i really want to buy this phone, but i can't, becouse all new e6 has the notification problem.
I don't want to buy a new phone and stright away bring it to nokia care and wait for 3 weeks that they could fix this problem. I'm from Lithuania, and nokia care works fine, but why NOKIA dont change new (faulty) phones to fixed one.

Hello,
I just come back from Nokia Care Center to change to the new keypad.
What to say: IT WORKS NOW !!! ![]()
The breathing- and notificationlight ist very bright now and can be easy seen in daylight.
What changed: The D-Pad is different now. They put a second transparent square in the D-Pad to make the light "come out" .
Sorry I not get any spare part no. for this, but the technician from the care center told me he specially asked for this new keypad and so it was no problem to get it here in Germany.

I'm soooo jealous! I called Nokia Care Canada and they are unaware of this
and because my phone is from overseas and is not a carried device in Canada, they can't fix it and it's not covered under warranty if a technician looks at it.
If anyone in Canada fixes their phone please post!

I'm curious how it looks, could you take some pictures? I'll start looking for a new keypad in Belgium.

Thank god notification has not to "look" good. Just notification.
Do you want an animated 3D-figure screaming for attention in 32 colors?

Thanks! I asked my Nokia Care Center if it's available in Belgium and they told me I could get it in a week.

Nice! It looks great! Just like the oldie E72! ![]()
P.S. personaly me, I followed this thread long time and I don't think that Notification light is necessary for this phone. I think Nokia was aware of it before launching it and wanted to have something new! Please agree with me, but the phone in that picture looks like E72 and not E6 anymore.

Apparently this cannot be fixed by software updates. So the only solution I see is to make the whole keyboard blink!!!

Sure. They don't want to implement notification lights, so they install it, and then they put a black plastic piece over it, so that nobody can see it blinking underneath.
