Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

[ Edited ]

For some reasons, 3G connection sometimes stays on, idling, after using web or email.

I've checked that there are no programs in the background.

I would really like to have back more options for: email, alarms, message and even ring tones!

Joikuspot seems to be working fine. And Angry Birds :smileyhappy:

In some situations, the d-pad navi key isn't functional. Only "select" can be done with the touchscreen.

That's isn't not so nice.

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

I am enjoying the belle but its annoying at times. I totally use Wifi at Home and Work. But Since the update to Belle the Wifi is getting disconnected and i have to initiate it manually. In Anna it was better and i had not to switch it on manually or select the network. Once i set it up in Anna it used to connect to the preferrred wifi network automatically. I tried to see all the options on Belle to know if there is any other way i can keep it on forever, but without luck. Can someone help me out?

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

Is Skype for Belle available yet? I'm also interested if there is a "unit converter" app present in Belle.

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

I moved to Belle couple of days back and feel a little let down by Nokia.

Though I like the interface, I have started seeing problems which i never faced with Anna.

In two days, my phone has restarted twice by itself, hangs if you try to multi task while browsing or messaging.

Its really sad to see things like the battery life notification gone, easy access to emoticons gone while messaging, D pad not functional on many screens.

Hope Nokia comes with more updates to make belle more stable and bring back those gr8 features which made Anna stand apart.

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

I miss d-pad functionality, it was faster to combine touch and d-pad in Anna. I also don't like the fact the new OS looks far too much like Android; I miss Anna's professional look. Please Nokia, resize the widgets for the use on E6 device! That should be the direct competitor of Blackberry business phone, cannot look like Android, come on!

Re: Nokia E6 and Buggy Belle

Try restoring your settings to factory deafult, and that should resolve any settings brought over from Symbian Anna

Re: Nokia E6 and Buggy Belle

I am facing all the problems. except that I have not fully tested the battery, as I have been playing with the phone continuously to understand and also re-install the lost applications.

In addition, my phone crashed & rebooted twice in 24 hrs.

I was hoping ofr a smoother transition.

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

I updated my E6 from Symbian Anna to Symbian Bell yesterday.

Touch-screen scrolling is faster but (for me) harder to control, the widgets are bigger and bolder, everything is more colorful, there's a tool or menu-bar at the bottom that has grown a couple of pixels, all in all Belle takes up more screen real estate compared to Anna.

It seems Nokia made an effort to make the phone look and feel more like competing products. If you bought the E6 with Symbian Anna because you specifically liked the look and feel of Symbian Anna, this update may not be a good idea, so first make sure to have a real good look at screen shots and reviews. It is not necessary to update today, it can wait.

I have only used a few of the functions (Phone, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, a spreadsheet and a Jabber client) on the E6+Anna, and only rarely used the touch screen but always the navigation key. Everything worked fine and was easy to use and simple. Great business phone. All I needed fitted on 1 home screen, super easy and quick. So for me there was absolutely no need to do the upgrade.

However, if looks and fast scrolling and swiping are important to you it may be worth while, but not if you are so used to Symbian Anna that you could use the E6 blindfolded. All the effort re-customizing the phone and learning to use it all over again probably takes too much time for a business user, and you can't configure it back to Anna (not all widgets will fit on the screen as before).

And there is NO WAY BACK. A hard reset won't flash back Anna! If anyone knows a way to get Anna back on my E6.. I will be truly grateful. I assumed the backup included the image of the OS. It doesn't.

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

I chose my user name BellX-1 back in the days of my Nokia 9500. It has nothing to do with Belle. It has everything to do with Chuck Yeager and going fast.

Re: Nokia E6 and Belle

According to Nokia Care there is really no way back, ever. A couple of mobile phone service shops said they can't reinstall Anna either, but it didn't become clear why that is, if it is a Nokia policy or a true technical impossibility. And all  had had a lot of inquiries about downgrading to Anna.

The hard reset *#7370#, as expected, only erased data & settings and reloaded the last installed OS (Belle).

Over the course of the day I found that some applications have lost the ability to use them with the navigation key, you can use touchscreen only. The web browser window is now really tiny. Wifi disconnects often. Calendar widget is not practical at all. A quick access to "Show open applications" is sorely missed. Perhaps it is hidden somewhere?

Hopefully Nokia will listen to the many disappointed customers, and develop a solution. Adding a "classic look" configuration option is one way, giving people access to re-install Anna is another.

For the time being, the old N900 is great for Wifi webbrowsing, camera, calendar and notes. The E6 is OK for use as a telephone and navigation (haven't tried navigation yet, though). But I do count on Nokia not letting down all those who miss Anna!
