HELLO.. IM STILL NOT AN EXPERT WITH MY NOKIA E71.. I PROBABLY ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED SOMETHING ON MY PHONE SO EVERY NOW AND THEN MY PHONE BEEPS AND IT SHOWS THIS ON THE SCREEN:

                   " INVALID PASSWORD PLEASE CORRECT THE PASSWORD FIELD IN PROFILE>CREDENTIALS>PASSWORD  "

I TRIED DOING THIS BY GOING TO TOOLS THEN PROFILE..BUT DOESNT SHOW ANYTHING ABOUT CREDENTIALS> PASSWORD....

ANYONE PLS HELP.

Hi,

It looks like you setup Mail for Exchange and the password isn't correct. Or, you changed the passowrd on your PC / Exchange Server and didn't do so on your phone. When your phone tries to sync your mail, you get this error.

Suggest you do the following:

Go to Menu> Messaging

Highlight Mail for Exchange

Click on Options >Settings >Email >Mail for Exchange. Click on Mail for Exchange

Click on Options >Edit Profile

Go to Credentials and enter the correct password.

Exit your way out of the menus and see if that helps.

I think this is also the case for me. However when selcting  option within Mail Exchange I only have the following optins and do not even get to settings:

open

synchronize

create message

reply

delete

message info

sort by

copy to folder

mark/unmark

help

exit

As I said no settings profiles and no credentials....

Don't CLICK on Mail for Exchange. What you are getting are the options if you click on Mail for Exchange and then click on Options.

Instead, just HIGHLIGHT Mail for Exchange and then click on Options. You will then get the options as I mentioned above.

For me this is what worked (I have an E71x)

Menu> Messaging> Mail for Exch> Options> Edit Profile> Credentials

I have followed your instruction. I still keep getting the message "mandatory settings missing. Exit without saving changes". If I just exit without saving my new password, it does not permit me to sync.....any ideas what I can do to fix this....

I had the same problem.  Now it is fixed.  Thanks for the helpful information.
