Hi, I have paid up the £40 for a 3 yr licence for Nokia maps to run on my E65.

Although I am continuing to use this I would caution others to go for a more mature navigation solution for now, but for the more adventurous here are some issues I've had:

Issues:

1) when planning a route the "recent" option causes the whole phone to crash

2) a recent "fastest" route from Cambridge to Richmond in London took me through some extremely busy areas and it took 3.5 hours. The return journey ignoring the software took 2 hours. My wife has zero confidence in the software to get us from a to b in a sensible manner - i.e the route planning software leaves alot to be desired.

3) there have been occasions when the screen stops updating though the voice and navigation continue to function. I usually need to restart the software which is not readily possible while driving.

4) there are regular occasions when the software asks me to re-accept the licence arrangement and then tries to get me to purchase the software again. I usually need to restart the software which is not readily possible while driving, on one occasion it seemed necessary to reboot the phone.

If anyone else has experienced the above and found solutions then please let me know. If there is a newer version of software please also let me know as the above issues are very annoying.

PS: I also tried to get TomTom Mobile 5 working before I went to Nokia maps but I couldn't get this working. TomTom mobile 5 did seem better on my N70 though.

Hi,

I'm using Nokia Maps on E65 as well and have experienced some of the problems you describe.

Can't comment on 2) as I haven't used navigation in the UK yet. The routes I have used have seemed quite reasonable - and I can always take alternative route if I know it to work better, as the recalculations appear fast.

As for the 1), 3) and 4) I used to encounter these with the first version I installed. I uninstalled it on an occasion and installed the application again and the new version (v1.1 wk23 b04 OpenBit) has appeared much more reliable.

It would be nice if the software told when there is an update available or if the smart2go website would tell you the most recent version number. As of now, I haven't found any other way of finding out than downloading the installer and trying to install it.

Thanks for the response Heikki, I'll look at downloading an upgrade but had thought this would be automatic
