hi there .. new memeber and couldn't see how to do a new post but I am SO hacked off at this "upgrade" fiasco ... I have tried a hard reset and that hasn't worked !! I am now considering contacting Nokia and asking for a new phone ... unless they get their act together and sort this out. I was using the internet radio at night to help me get to sleep and now this important function has gone !!! grrrrrrrrr. I agree with askbob .. the more complain the better. Let's get this sorted ... SOON !!
I have always been a supporter of the Nokia brand but I really feel let down by this ... and will have to consider using them in the future................

Add one more to the people that accepted the upgrade rendering the app useless.

Got this reply:-
Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
I regret to hear that you’re facing some issue with your Nokia E71 phone and services. Let me try to help you with this. You may try to restore the factory settings on the phone. This step will only reset the phone back to its original settings as it was first purchased and requires a security code. If you have not changed the code prior to this, the default security code of 12345 will apply. No personal data will be lost. However, the settings for SMS, MMS and Web browsing as well as downloaded applications may be deleted. You would then need to contact your network provider for the settings and you would need to re-download the applications. To proceed, kindly go to:
Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Factory settings
I hope this helps, Robert. Do get back to us if you need further assistance. We’ll be glad to help you out.

I replied:
Thank you – but you will note that in my original query I said “The initial response from Nokia Denmark was do a Hard Reset. Hardly an acceptable answer!!” Your recommendation is the same. What we ALL need is a second upgrade which will repair the damage done by the first. I, for one, dare not do a hard reset – far too much work to restore the consequences.
Please advise.

I was also given opportunity to fill in questionaire - which I completed with appropriate negative comments!

And last night another package wanted an upgrade - which, this time, I refused!

Hi
I have the same problem with my E63
THE ONLY SOLUTION TILL NOW IS TO REMOVE MEMORY CARD AND PLAY "INTERNET RADIO" WITHOUT IT

EXCELLENT!!! All solved - whip the card out and stuff it into a PC (using a USB adapter) - pop into sys/bin - remove the IR files - and voila!! :-) So why couldn't Nokia do that with a simple patch.
Thanks hilboy - you are an unintentional star!!

Thanks
) will try this although it isn't perfect it IS a fix and quicked than Nokia has managed .. hurrah to the "people" !! by the way ... I called this AM and waited 15 mins for tech support - so called again with this complaint and asked for a call back which I was assured would happen ........STILL WAITING .......... sigh
Also ... I now have SERIOUS misgivings about any downloads .. what to do what to do ??

same problem. I didn't upgrade IR because I was advised that it would self-update when an E71 version was ready.
A few days ago, on launch, I got a "new version" prompt, so installed it... and got the "feature not supported" error.
I can't uninstall IR, no options to do so. I'll try deleting IR stuff from memcard.
Nokia - I am not doing a hard-reset, losing all my settings and stuff, just to cure this. If it's being pushed out to E71s, it should work on E71s. Your problem, not ours.

Hi All, my internet radio now works, I will try and send you a link for the update I used. But what I did was
1. backup my all my data using the nokia software
2.update firmware even if it tells you the software has being updated
3.then a factory reset
4. install software(Pls note the old version of nokia internet radio)
5. Check that it is installed even if you get error message
6. restore backed up data
It should work

I tried to install the update to my memory card.. thinking that might help it install and let me uninstall it later..
WRONG!
It completly WIPED what was on my memory card. Amazing.. Glad I had nothing important on it and had made a backup just a few days ago. Restoring my memory card from backup now.

just do the following
1.backup for your memory card
2.format
3.the internet radio should work
N.B
NEVER INSTALL THAT UPDATE TO YOUR MEMORY CARD
4.INSTALL ONLY TO PHONE MEMORY
5.then it will give you "UPDATE ERROR" during installation BUT DON'T PANIC
BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY UPDATED..!!

Just to confirm that this was SO easy - as long as you have a USB adapter for your microSD - get one if you haven't. (It's only about an inch long - I keep a 8GB card in it as a tiny instant USB stick). Took me about 2 minute to remove card, into PC, remove rogue files, and back into phone (hot removal - no problems).
I also noticed that there was no registrary files for this update - perhaps that was the problem?

Are you sure! Sounds like no recovery if it goes wrong if to phone-memory.
So what does the upgrade give you? See anything different?
28-May-2009 08:55 PM
"NEVER INSTALL THAT UPDATE TO YOUR MEMORY CARD"
like I did... so is that the problem, installing it to the memory card?
28-May-2009 09:24 PM
OK, soI popped out my card, deleted all the IR files from that folder, put back in.
Internet Radio launches! (which is more than it did before). But it instantly goes to "Update available". So I install TO PHONE, and it says "install error". I reboot, go back into IR, it launches, tells me I have an update available, tries to install, error. On and on... gah... I give up. Mobbler is much better anyhow

I want to make that clear as possible
After memory card format
the "internet radio" should work fine
it will ask you to update...
DON'T DO THAT VIA INTERNET RADIO
YOU CAN GO TO NOKIA SITE VIA YOUR PHONE AND GO TO
DOWNLOADS>APPLICATION>INTERNET RADIO
THEN DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL TO PHONE MEMORY
YOU WILL GET AN UPDATE ERROR
AFTER THAT... OH
INTERNET RADIO SHOULD WORK FINE WITHOUT ASKING YOU TO UPDATE
I HOPE THAT WOULD HELP
I HAVE ALREADY TESTED IT ON MY E63

Actually, there is no need to reformat the memory card, just (re)move the following files from sys\bin:
6916 05-23 09:16 IRCacheMgmt.dll
All these files should have the same timestamp: the day and time you installed this "upgrade".
After reinserting the memory card, Internet Radio should be launchable, with all your settings still there (favorites, etc.) and it will ask if you want to upgrade...
