Hi all,
My phone when checked through Menu--> Ctrl Panel --> Phone --> SW Update shows an available Phone Software update. However, the only installation available is Update via PC. However, when I check through Device Manager, it shows no available update for my phone !!
Anyways, when I try to update through the PC using either Ovi Suite or Nokia Software Update, it correctly downloads the update, but during installation gives an error "Connection to Phone Lost" and leads to the Phone recovery screen presenting a screen guiding me to remove battery, followed by disconnecting charger, and then USB, and reinserting the same in th reverse order, pressing the power button for 1 sec. and then Retry. Even on following the instructions, the phone is not updated, and the only option is to terminate the update.
Thankfully so far, the phone has neither crashed, nor lost any data (which I anyways backed up before beginning the update).
Any suggestions how I could get to update the Phone Over-the-air or rectify the problems being faced while updating through the PC.
For information, I'm using the version Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.0.87, Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 and Nokia Software update v 1.8.10 which are the latest available for my geographical region.
Thanks in advance

Hi ,
I downloaded the NSU v2.4.3 from the Nokia Beta site, but even this new version of NSU fails to update the firmware.
Same problem for my E72 on Win XP for this version of NSU as for the previous NSU v1.8.xx.
After it starts the download and install of firmware, soon shows the "Device Recovery" dialog box. Even after following the sequence of "remove battery, USB etc" many times, still does not work.
I cannot believe Nokia the self-proclaimed "biggest smartphone manufacturer" cannot get a basic FW update to work.
I have had a Blackberry in the past and never had any issues of this basic nature (i.e. USB connectivity to the device).
My wife has an iPhone and never has had any issues on this PC's USB sockets.
Even Nokia Ovi Suite syncs the contacts to my E72 with the same USB connector and the same USB slots.
So all I can conclude is that the NSU is the one at fault.
I am starting to lose my patience on Nokia's software ability. Just because Nokia can cram lots of hardware features in their phones, does not make them a "smartphone leader". I am about to dump this E72 and move to iPhone or Blackberry. They may not have a 5MP camera, but the basics always reliably work.
Nonetheless, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thx.

This unblocked my problem thanks. I cannot believe that they can offer software that simply does not work. Seems pointless, futile and a waste of our time. Its amazing that we had to find this software as a beta!!!
