E90 Un/Install issues

With the release of the new Maps for the E90
http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291

I tried upgrading my device (V 07.24.0.3) to the newer maps, it failed to install, also tried to uninstall some other applications (WiPresenter, Mail For Exchange), it failed too. Anyone got this issue before, or know of a remedy?

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

This can happen if you install the applications on the memory card then perform an upgrade or flash the OS. If you do this, the registry entries are no longer there thus no links. To remove them, you have to install them again or format the memory card.

Dude, I am not trying to insult you or give you a hard time. I am pointing out that this is the problem that is quite common. I was just trying to give you a tip on what the problem could be.

You also mentioned that you flashed your phone to the newest f/w version. If you did this, the phone should not have any apps other than the native ones that come pre-installed. Anyway, good luck.

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

I didn't take it as an insult, I was merely eliminating that option, also I never mentioned that I flashed it to new F/W, the post says that my F/W version is the latest and I tried to install the new MAPS released only today, but it failed to do so.

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

My mistake.

Is it possible to reflash it? This should fix all issues. Sorry I can not help more. I have only had the issue when I had previous flashed my phone then tried to uninstall software.

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

I installed the upgrade, on phone memory, I rebooted after it.

It works great, they have improved the interface. I will try it tomorrow.

@wolf666,

Do you mean the maps upgrade?

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

I also upgraded mine and tested it on E90. They have changed the interface. I am not that technical so I don't know what else they have changed. After first fix which took about 2 mins it takes less than 5 secs to get the Satellites and I had 6 sats locked within 5~10 secs.

Nokia has released a newer version of Nokia Maps and Map loader, which are available on;

Note: I think a MOD should change the subject of this thread.

Yup.

I installed the mapuploader in my PC and Nokia Maps in the E90.

Everything is working.

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

If you use the drop down.. Scroll down through the phones and you will find the E90 upgrade download here.

http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291

I just down loaded and installed it using PC suite.
It overwrites and keeps your old "landmarks"

But the install takes quite a while ..about 2 minutes so be patient.
It is a 3MB file.

The noticeable changes..
The "options interface/menu" has a few changes.
When it is searching for satelites there is a new icon beside the satelite dish icon that shows it is doing something...(to me the icon looks like a bouncing ball)...When lock is made this changes to three green traffic lights icons.

Re: E90 Un/Install issues

Why would a moderator change the subject?
I started this thread because of install/uninstall issues, not about the new Nokia Maps.

The thread been diverted to talk about the Maps, please don't read the last reply, read the initial message.

After further detection, I can install and uninstall any J2ME applications (Java) but if it's a .SIS/X I don't have the option to remove it, (pressing "C" or "REMOVE" will result with no reaction, as if I didn't initiated a command.

I am sorry rached, I didn't mean bad.

What I have noticed is that its always good to write one problem in one thread otherwise you wont get answers for any. Your first question in starting the thread was about Nokia Maps and it also contained information about the new version which was very useful. I learned from your thread about the new version of Nokia Maps.

No hard feelings, I take my suggestion back for changing the subject.
