Hi,

I just upgraded my E90 with the 7.40.1.2.

Result : bofff....

SMS : nothing changed !
Inner screen used just for its half part.
Details yet not directly displayed

SMS containing numbers are still unreadable (as it consider these numbers as link !)

APS : Camera
I did noticed any changes (but this is gadget)

PIM : No amelioration seen.

Gallery access : with a 2GB (Kingston SD-C02G), yet as fast as before

Boot time : 30 sec

Alarm snoozing : YEt not possible to snooze the alarm with any button pressed ! Only ONE can snooze it, and ony ONE can stop it !

GPS : Navigation application still not as user friendly as any other GPS soft is.
TIFF not tested.

WIFI : Seems better, more reliable and faster !

3G : Seems also better, more reliable and fsster.

Delay to unlock phone between [UPPER/LEFT corner button] and [*] still too short !
As the keyboard is not easy to discover by touch, finding these 2 buttons in such a short period force to more than 1 attempt !

Using the Journal to check from where someone (having more than 1 phone number) called you is still impossible

Web access seems better

Still to be tested (for my part) :
- Call reception. Phone number displayed ?
- Freeze of the phone
- Intempestive reboot (using GPS)

In summary, nothing very special for what concerns our complaints...

This list is based on a one hour test...

I am testing it for about one day and I confirm your initial findings. No feature added, same usability problems.

I did try the GPS TTFF and mine is still not working, even with A-GPS. I think is it a hardware failure and I will check it into a Nokia service.

For me E90 is a lost cause, and so is Nokia. I feel such a dissapointemnt I cannot even express it... Bye bye Nokia.

Nokia Care Center will send me a new E90 one !
Maybe all these HW problems will also disapear

They told me all the stock here in Belgium had to be returned back to Finland due to ... problems !

a few things i have noticed

TomTom now works on internal screen first time without problems

GPS TTF is improved so long as internet access available, I wish it worked like some other GPS system where it downloads 7 days worth of satellite positions.

there is now a little 3G symbol next to the signal strength when 3G coverage is available

SIP still does not work through a NAT'd connection for me

Nothing seems to have changed with the web browser

little else to mention after 12hrs use, will advise if i notice anything else

also signal seems to be stronger in low signal areas :-)

I did not upgraded my device since the FW is not yet available in Italy.

The news do not sound good..
I hoped Nokia could fix some stupid bugs like:

1. mobile icon always displayed even if a fixed phone calls was received!)

and improved the retrieval of calls information.

It seems they focused their attention to other I will evaluate.

Even if I still consider the E90 a great device I am disappointed for this upgrade which did not consider some points.

The 3G symbold had never display before on my handset

as for TomTom i think this is more of a shortfall with tomtom only supporting BT gps receivers, and without middleware that sets up a dummy bt receiver diverting to the internal gps, then it will not be possible with the current version

Nope

TomTom only supports BT GPS receivers.

This 7.40.1.2 firmware update is an parody.
Nothing important was repaired (who cares about A-GPS)
there is a ton of bugs and the system is very unstable.
Example: in Nokia maps/find/landmarks press up button and the system reset, also if you scroll down (landmarks) few times you get reset.
When you select camera it takes 8-10 second to start, you must be joking NOKIA.

This is the most bugiest product that I have ever seen.

Check with your nearest Nokia service centre if 0544295 is OK..
Because the new FW is available for that code.
My E90 has the standard Nordic key board with the ÄÖÅ keys has yours?

Is your currently running a generic nokia firmware, or is it a customised one by an operator such as O2??

I expect the current update will only goto generic nokia sim free handsets, as nokia will give the firmware to the operators to test and customise, then release, in some case this can take months!!
