E73: can receive email from cox.net but cannot send

I'm getting my incoming email fine.

My outgoing email just sits in the outgoing box.

cox.net is my ISP. These are the settings I'm using:

username and password entered.

outgoing server: smtp.west.cox.net (I'm in AZ)

access point: web2go internet

security: ssl/tls

port: 587

These settings are per http://support.cox.com/sdccommon/asp/contentredirect.asp?sprt_cid=fcb44db0-3835-491c-bca8-2d56ac32a5.... The secure POP settings seems to work fine for sending.

Any ideas? Any way to troubleshoot this? I can't even figure out if it's trying to send the email. I'm running SW version 043.001.

Thanks

Re: E73: can receive email from cox.net but cannot send

This is the setting for the more common accounts -- Hotmail (Windows Live) <POP3> & Ovi <IMAP>. See if you can see your error.

Ovi email IMAP:
Incoming Mail Server:
imap.mail.ovi.com 993 (SSL)

Outgoing Mail Server:
smtp.mail.ovi.com 465 (SSL)

Hotmail - Live (User name = email)
Incoming Mail Server:
pop3.live.com default (ssl/tls)

Outgoing Mail Server:
smtp.live.com 587 (start tls)

*Also note that you need to fill out username@email.com & passwords for both incoming & outgoing. Hope this helps, good luck. :smileywink:

Have you double checked all your settings to make sure they are using the ports that Cox lists?

yes, I double-checked the settings--I don't get any error that I cannot connect, but my email just sits in my outbox.

Re: E73: can receive email from cox.net but cannot send

Try switching off SSL for outgoing mail box. If this doesn't work, delete the email settings on your phone and start from scratch, again turning off SSL in Security (Ports) for Outgoing mail (& for Incoming, if that develops problems too).

I Googled 'mail box settings, cox.net' . This AT&T forum loads exactly like Nokia Discussions on mobile, and has the above solution http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/Apple/mail-settings-for-cox-net-email/m-p/1688790

And this is another search result: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/use-outlook-with-cox-net-e-mail-HA001096264.aspx
