Phone is E72-2, using firmware 031.023
Short version
Wifi stalled after leaving it active for a few minutes.
Long version
I can connect to my home wifi, but only usable for a few minutes before it froze. This problem is reproducible 100%. For instance, I launch the web browser which access the wifi AP. This is indicated with the appearance of the antenna icon at the bottom of the screen, At this point, no matter what I do next, after a few minutes the browser would stall. Clicking on links would result in "Invalid Server Name" message. Basically, any application that relies on this access point become unusable as the wifi AP doesn't work anymore.
Now, the antenna icon is still there, and checking the wifi access point show the message "Access point is currently in use. Unable to edit." (Control Panel > Settings > Connection > Destinations > Internet > Wifi Name.)
In my wireless router, I can see the MAC address of the phone when it initially use the wifi access point, but after a few minutes the MAC address disappeared. At the same time, the wifi on the phone stalled as mentioned.
The only way to get the wifi working again is to either
1. Exit all applications that are accessing the wifi and re-open them, or
2. Manually disconnect the wifi connection and let applications re-establish the connection
but this is a hassle. I don't need to do this every few minutes. I have tried all possible solution suggested by users such as static IP, manual DNS, WPA encryption. None of these work. I have not tried open or WEP, and I'm not going to. I have five laptops using the same wireless router without any trouble.
Is there a working solution for this particular problem?

Is 031.023 the latest firmware? Check for update with Nokia Software Updater. You did everything you could do, and in fact you were connected. DNS server problems are often the problem. Don't use IPv4/6 config. Use DHCP (automatic) configuration. Clean out your browser privacy data on a regular basis and reset the E72 and router. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.
