Hi!
I got my E72 today and of course started fiddling with it.
Somehow I messed up my e-mail accounts, so I want to start over by deleting them.
When I try to delete the accounts, I get the following error message 'you have to be connected to remove an email account"
Since I've ruïned the settings for those email accounts I'm unable to connect.
Please help! Does anyone know to remove e-mail accounts via another way?
Thanks in advance,..

I had the same problem. The remedy is as follows:
1. Back up all your data except "Settings"
2. Send the command *#7370# it will get your phone into factory setting (lock-code 12345 if you have not yet changed it)
3. Restore your back up
4. You can restore "settings" from backups made before e-mail problem appeared
Good luck. No other easy solution had been found.

It's not necessary to reset the phone. The following can be done.
1. Goto: Menu -> E-mail -> Options
2. Highlight the desired E-mail account
3. Choose: Select
4. Scroll down to: Remove Account
5. Confirm deletion
Hope this helps

No way I can remove my e-mail account and I really do not understand how come NOKIA do not solve this problem. I search all the forms and sent my phone to operator to restart the SW. Please help before I throw the E72 and buy the IPHONE.... BTW I am using NOKIA for almost 12 years and I am really disappointed from the quality of NOKIA's product!!!

The problem is that the email accounts you have added are controlled via Nokia Messaging. This is an online push email solution which you get an inclusive lifetime subscription as part of the phone cost.
It is managed via the site email.nokia.com. You can't delete the accounts from the phone as the settings are pushed out and controlled from the Nokia Messaging web site. This is as designed.
Try logging into email.nokia.com and delete the accounts from there.
If you're unlucky, you may find the account on Nokia Messaging is corrupt and you'll have to contact Nokia Care to reset it.
P.S. You can manually add mailboxes to the phone which are not managed by NM and can be easily deleted, although it's tricky as the set up wizard will insist on trying to manage the email via NM if it's an account it recognises.

(Cross posting) ...
1. Login to email.nokia.com
2. After login is COMPLETE, check the server name in the browser window
3. Enter the name EXACTLY to the "settings" ==> SELECT ACCOUNT ==> "account settings" ==> "account information" ==> "server name"
4. Select "Back" (It is the right key)
5. You will see some messages and after that the account is either functional or at least you can delete.
(THROUGHT THE FORUM, account deletion problems are most likely happening due to server changes where your account information is stored. It happened to me that when I first created the account, the server was different then what I found today (it was a different server), when I solved my problems). When email.nokia.com ACCOUNTS are not in sync with your PHONE ACCOUNTS, this is most likely the problem. I hope it will help many.

Ok, I finally used this code *#7780# - Restore factory settings and recreated all mail boxes.
Luckily, It keeped my contacts, calendars and most, not all, of my settings.
I now have to check the probable multi copies for appointments, mails vaporised and so on....
This is highly disappointing and keeps me under a permanent stress: When will it fail again? What will fail? Will I have no use of what is failing?
Clearly, it never happened to me with windowsmobile. I believed this level of unreliability had gone but in fact, it is consistent with my old experience with Intellisync (5 years and about 10 years ago)!
Bye, bye!

Tried that also.... The sever name of my nokia account in settings is the same as in the addressbar by signing in through http://email.nokia.com through my PC. But my account has been deactivated 3 times in 2 months with an email coming fromnonreply@nokia.com stating that my phone has been transferred to another person. (*May be they got a dream about it. But actually, I am the same person who brought this phone with the same internet connection and SIM number).
I contacted the nokia helpline also .... First time they asked me to hard reset my phone through *#7370# , I did that and my service got activated after that. But, that was just the beginning, as, I again got the same email just after 2 days with my account deactivated. I again contacted Nokia care & they said that this time they will delete my account from their server & I have to again signup for the service. I did that also and the service got activated. But. Believe me, just after 3-4 days again I got the same email with my account deactivated. This time Nokia care executive have said that they have transferred this problem to their technical department and the problem will be addressed within a week. Since, 24-Aug-2010 my service is deactivated with no call or email from Nokia till now.
From these 10 years, I was the big fan of Nokia devices, but the way they are addressing this problem and selling this service which is such in a crude phase is very disappointing.
I felt like throwing my device away.... Such a let down by Nokia !!!
