this gmail account is this nokia messaging or this is the one in messaging cause for both of them it uses GPRS. for the nokia messaging you can chnage the settings to wifi but with the one in the messaging it only uses wifi so we cannot do anything about it.

Hi,
I tried setting-up gmail through Other, but the phone sent me straight back to the menu that asks me to select a type of account, like it was trying to force me to use the easy set-up. So I'm still in a situation where I can't check my email through wifi.
Can anybody suggest any tips for this? If not then I think I'm going to have to return the E72 and get an iPhone, which is very frustrating!
Thanks.

I agree with you. I am very very disappointed with Nokia. I should og got an iPhone also. How dare they call it E72 for business users when email doesn't work. They laughed at me at work and said that for little more I woudl fo got Blackberry or iPhone. This is really sucks... I saved for a long time for this $450 phone.
I am very disappointed.

Sorry your experience is no better than mine yobi.
I have found many problems with the E72 (unlike other Nokias). Some I can live with, but I cannot have a phone on which:
- the email application is very poor, tries to force people to direct all their mail through one (Nokia) server, and is sub-standard in many ways in terms of how it behaves, options given to user, and the user interface
- www and email access over wifi barely work at all
This is totally unacceptable for such an expensive phone, especially a business oriented one. We are not even given a promise that Nokia are working on these issues and creating updates.
>>>>>>>> I am returning my E72 to Nokia - have just requested RMA number. <<<<<<<<<<<<<
This is a shame as my previous experience of Nokia phones has been very good. I wish to remain loyal to Nokia, and the only way to do this is to part with this phone which severely strains this loyalty. In future I will have to arrange to test phones before purchasing (though not quite sure how this could be arranged).
Those of you who just purchased their phone from the Nokia online shop and are disappointed should remember you have right to return an item if not satisfactory (within 14 days). Best of luck to those who are persisting with this phone, or for whom it is too late to return it.

What seems to be working for me is to set up the email using the wizard (I selected Gmail), when it askes you to select connection, just cancel but then do NOT using "Nokia Messaging". Now when I select send/recieve it asks me "select connection"
