I just bought the Nokia E72. I wish i read these messages before I did, I kinda regret buying it now.....when it comes through the post, I will not be that excited anymore to actually open it and use it.

I "upgraded" from the E71 to E72.

The E72 is a heavier, thicker, more plastic version of the E71. The E71 is much nicer in all physical aspects.

It is an unforunate and obvious cost cutting version. Even the charger in my region is very different in size from the one that was delivered with E71. Totally useless and unfit for putting in your bag. I returned the charger to the sales outlet and got my old E71 charger back which is 1/3 in size.

It would be much nice if Nokia put the E72 inwards in the much mure durable E71 enclousure. With the E72 I accidentallly open the battery cover due to the unrigid plastic mounting. Never happened with E71.

The software is improved over E71 IMHO, but still very far from perfect. Bluetooth work better for me. But it should be named E63i+ and a real E72 be made available.

WHEN I AM UPGRADED QUICK OFFICE VERSION IT HANGS BADLY.I TRIED SEVERAL TIME ALSO I REINSTALL MY PHONE SOFTWARE BUT PROLEM EXISTS.

E72 has lots of problems I have faced :-
- It does not auto recognise capital alphabet like E71
- When u type fast it skips some alphabet
- When u insert a Image in a word sheet it doesnt recognise
- Whenever u restart ur phone most of the times u lose your email setting.
- Web browsing is slower than E71
- You cannot underline or use bold or italic through shortcuts in word like Ctrl U, B, I like E71
- This phones hangs now and then like a windows based.
- Contacts shortkey does allow u to add new contact after long hold.
- Basic Barcode reader is missing.
- Web Feeds in missing in he bookmark list, u need to go to setting and find it.
- Mailbox clock switches the date at 12 noon. So u get the mail dated to next date.
- Memory card in setting is missing which was usefull in E71, like format etc.
- Nokia has saved it time by not making new O.S. Has used N-Series user interface which does match with the E-Series User Interface.
- Optical Key not at all usefull
- The System is so slow that even setting come very slow, and if u try to select things fast then it leaves you back to the home screen including surfing mails.
-Battery Backup is only about 1 and half days, and more worse is that u cannot trust this phone as day 1 it shows full battery, and second day you wont even come to know when it comes from full to drain.
- Even if Wi-Fi server is not found it still says Hidden Wi-Fi found.
- In Opera 10 Browser u cannot use 'U' it only uses *
- Even space bar key hangs now and then and to use it we need to restart the phone.

- Ctrl + Shift does not activate/deactivate Prediction like E71 does.

Finally I have sold the handset.

I appreciate your frustration and do not dispute any of the problems you have had, but please stop cross-posting your problem list to every single E72 thread. I think we have it memorized by now

About the quick office upgrade procedure there is a thread somewere (sorry I havent' the link to post). Me too experienced the hangs (at the end of the dload nothing happens) but there are a pair of  tricks to bypass the "direct" upgrade procedure and get the quickoffice upgraded.  Some people succdeded just insisting with the normal procedure though..

I have a solution for your gallery problem, since I have faced it twice on two different E72 phones.

The problem is in the video thumbnails, here's how to solve it:

1- Access your memory card using the USB cable and remove the videos folder from the memory card to your computer.

2- Open the gallery and it will refresh all of the pictures and vidoe thumbnails, things should be correct now, close the gallery.

3- Return the videos folder to the memory card once again and re-open the gallery, everything should be ok now.

You will also find that some videos that didn't appear before has appeared.

 Also make sure you have the v22.07 updated firmware, press *#0000* from the standby screen and see if you have the v22.07 firmware.

Has anyone else experienced the loss of keypad tones? I've always used them to tell me if I hit the key or not since I often type while looking somewhere else...

Keypad tones work normally for "awhile" after poweroff/on cycle then disappear. I cannot determine which program is doing this if any of them actually are responsible...

I upgraded from the Nokai E71 to the E72 myself. and I must say that most of you guys are being too much of a critic. Yes, the E72 has many bugs but if you guys would recall, the E71 had the same problem when it first came out. Give it awhile until a good firmware comes out that will solve the many issues, then all you will see on websites is how good the phone is.

I don't believe there is any difference between an E72 that is made in China as opposed to one made in Finland. Both places are Nokia's factories, and both places uses the SAME materials and equipments. You'll get two similar devices despite one being claimed that it is made in Finland and another saying it is made in China.

I got my E72 about three days ago. I have not experienced the space bar issue yet. I have however, experienced a lag after taking a picture and a date freeze bug (the date does not change when it hits 12AM) .. but these issues aren't killing me. I'm simply patiently waiting for a worthy SW update that will do the job and make this phone one of the best phones ever. Just bear with it guys.

Hey, Nokia guys, what have you done to the device? Where is free RAM, available over then 70 Mb on e63/e71 vs 49 Mb on e72? What happening with RAM during the usage? On the same tasks running 31 Mb free RAM after reboot and 15-17 after a day usage. Some leaks. Do you call this e72 a multipurpose top of the e-series smartphone? Try to run email application, QIP (IM client), Skype. And after that run Opera Mobile and open two or three pages: and You'll see no Skype running. Garmin mobile XT shut the map and itself if You press the button in a ten minutes. Fix it in the new software update, please, cause it's a big bug.

Email agent sometimes needs to be reloaded, to work in proper way;

With a few tasks running, it often can't load an application due to "not enough memory"

Often reboots, even during the phone call (due to RAM leaks, I suppose)

 And that is not all.

I think I found a bug in the contacts. E72 can't sync the birthdays with Calendar if there is a one digit number in the date. If I'm wiriting for example "04" as april, it overwrites to "4". I know it is an insignificant problem but it was the first one I met in E72.

Any idea how to solve it?
