I got E72 as a gift. Went to ATT and they said be carefull your phone is not branded ATT which means will not work properly.
Surlly they are right. Having problems with interent conncections that phone freezes. Using Whats app loses internet conncection and phone freezes
Called ATT and they told me since its not ATT phone you can not use more than one thing at time. and if am browsing and someone calls me the phone will get stuck !!!
Having said that ATT had the E71 which is same thing really why didn that have an issue , could it be my phone

That's very strange, I bought an unlocked E72 directly from Nokia poped in my SIM card it worked fine for making calls and surfing the web via 3G. I never bothered configuring voice mail.

Well it might be the apps that require internet. Now Phone keeps asking to which connections to use though it should always be ATT

That connection this is actually normal.... the Nokia E72 is more of a dumb phone than a smart phone... for example if you have multiple wi-fi points say for example work and home and you're at work instead of Automatically using the wi-fi point at work it'll ask you which connection do you want to use.
There's actually an app call Smart Connect I believe that's a third party application that makes the E72 Smarter by grouping connections...
Nokia actually has a native connection location manager but alot of apps don't use it.

I'm pretty sure AT&T is lying. They trying to sell you their E71x version which is nothing like E71 or E72 version. All the freezing that you see is probably fixable new firmware update. If not, try to contact Nokia directly.
Personally own unlocked phone with AT&T with no problems.
