E72 Subfolders Unable to Move to the Root Folder

[ Edited ]

I tried to manage the folders and subfolders in my Nokia E72 but I was not able to move the /Connectivity Folder to the /Root Folder, same thing with the /Games Folder.

In my Nokia E71 the /Connectivity Folder is in the /Root Folder, the way I like it to be.

/Connectivity and /Games Folder is supposedly in the /Root Folder or otherwise there must have an option for us to move that, but there isn't.

If you can add this to your next firmware update, that would be much appreciated.

Re: E72 Subfolders Unable to Move to the Root Folder

Is there any way we can move the subfolder

/Games

/Connectivity

/Phone

to the

/. Root Folder?

I'm still using the 023.002 FW though but if sorts my concern if I will update to the latest FW version then I will definitely do it right away, can somebody tell me?

Re: E72 Subfolders Unable to Move to the Root Folder

You still can't move any of the apps sub folders into the root on V031.023.

It does fix the typing buffer for people that enter numbers very quickly and adds internet radio to the "Radio" application, however, if you use direct push mail - i.e. Mail for Exchange - skip this update as it breaks the MfE client!

Re: E72 Subfolders Unable to Move to the Root Folder

I am experiencing the same with firmware 31.023.

Cannot move, ./tools/connectivity, ./tools/phone, ./tools/games to ./root.

Am eager to have this limitation changed as such as current layout is slight design flaw compared to E71.

Have tried a number of things.

1. Have emptied the apps from the folder and move the empty folder - doesnt work

2. Have tried deleting the folder (lets say games) and recreating elsewhere - doesnt work.. you just get a plain folder named games, not the folder system icon version.

2a. Have tried recreating the folder using the trick from the S40 series (make a folder called predefgames, predefcollections etc) - Doesnt work, either that or I'm not using the right naming convention/method.

3. Have tried getting 3rd party software that allows you to modifying menu (like MenuEditor) doesnt work as you cannot install them (application access not granted) even after utilising 'non-supported' tools.

The only workaround I have found thus far, is to create a folder of your own in ./root, and move all the icons into it you want. It works but looks shoddy and half-done..

Is there a way to maybe implement this workaround fully by using the method of 2a somehow?
