This only happens sometimes, but it causes me to pick up the phone when there is nothing new.

does anyone know why it does this ? (is there another reason it would flash besides new emails or txts or other messages)

or is it just a bug ?

That would be the breathing light and notification light.

The notification light flashes to alert of any missed calls, new texts etc.

However, the same light appears at certain intervals in a more "breathing" way by default. If you would like to switch this feature off, open the Control Panel, go to "Settings", press "General", "Personalisation" and "Notification lights". Switch off the "Standby br. light".
