Hi,
I am unable to use the Hotmail ActiveSync Feature. The settings for Mail for Exchange are:
Mail: name@live.de
Username: name@live.de
Password: xxxxxxxx
Domain: [leave blank]
and then Server: m.hotmail.com
The first sync is ok. Mail for Exchange shows me my mails.
But it keeps showing the error message: "Cant sync. Please contact Administrator...".
And if I try to write an E-Mail it shows me: "Can't send E-Mail".
What's wrong with the Mail for Exchange ?
Do you experience the same kind of issue?

The first time i've set up hotmail for mail for exchange i've got the same error. I've deleted the mailbox and re-created it. Now i don't get this message anymore.

This is very frustrating. I hope Hotmail OR Nokia fix this!
PS: I opened a question in the solution center of win live:

Now i get the same error message, i don't know why. Very frustrating. But new emails are still synchronized, even if the error message pops up. What's more strange is that push mail doesn't work.

Hi aeuglein,
i've found a way to get this annoyying error message away. Under sync options i've disabled email sync. After that all messages in the mailbox are away. Then i've turned the option on again. After that i can sync my mails without that error message.
But i am still not able to get push mail running. Under sync times i can setup what i want, but my phone does not automatically sync when i am on my home screen. I always have to go into my mailbox.

Hi MrGonzo,
thank you for the advice. But this is not the way I want to use the ActiveSync Technology. Why the hell every other Smartphone Manufacturer is able to give their customers Exchange Capabilities but Nokia isn't?
I can only hope Nokia fix this ASAP or I will will use my money back guarantee from Amazon.

I've found another strange behavior. In the mail for exchange mailbox i've switched to another folder (another folder in my hotmail account, not inbox folder). I've wanted to sync this folder by pressing "send and receive". But i am not able to sync any other folder, but only the inbox. The strange thing is, now i've got this annoying error message again (also on the home screen).
I really hope Nokia fixes this issue asap.

Yeah you can threw this "Enterprise Messaging Device" away, if they are unwilling to update the Mail For Exchange Client.

I've found a workaround that works for me. I am only using mail for exchange to sync my contacts and schedules. Contacts are the most important thing for me, because i manage them all in hotmail. To get mails i've created a new mail account for my hotmail emails. Nokia messaging works really good and i get mails pushed directly to my device.
The only bad thing about Nokia messaging is that you can only see your inbox and no other folders. For the moment, this workaround works very well and i can live with it. But you are right, Nokia should fix the mail for exchange bug as soon as possible. It's very annoying.

Hi aeuglein,
you do the same procedure as you would setup any other mail account. Go to menu->email->new mail account. Then in the list you select Windows Live instead of mail for exchange. Then you have to type your email and password. That's it.
When you go to menu->email->settings->general settings-> scroll down to start view. You can select what mailbox you want to see on your home screen. Because i don't use my mail for exchange account for mails, but only for contacts i've removed it from primary/secondary account and use only my Nokia messaging hotmail account as primary account.
But i don't know exactly how Nokia messaging works. If i understand it right, then the Software creates an account on a nokia server (this account is locked to your device). This account then polls all your email accounts that you have created on your phone and if there is any new mail it pushes it to your device. But i could be wrong and it's just a software thing that is only handled on your phone. However, it works fine and my hotmail emails are pushed very fast to my phone (4-7 seconds).

Very strange. Normally you should get push mail when setting up a windows live account via nokia messaging.

Since a week the "push" on Hotmail is not working any more! Has anyone found a solution yet, without all kinds of trics.......

Thank you for the information claudia! So this means, it is a pure Windows Hotmail issue?

I don't think this is a Hotmail issue.
Other clients just work fine with hotmail!
Check the internet!

Does anybody know if it has been fixed yet?
