Hi,
I've been having quite a lot of problems with my Nokia E72 since I updated to software version 051.018. Is there a way to go back to an earlier version?
Thanks,
Veselin

usually not.
I once wanted to go back with my E71, and the service-center where i bought the phone told me after long discussions that they could do that for me.... but you can not do it yourself.
I can not tell if it would have worked, because in the end the advantages and disadvantages were 50/50 and i never tried it.

i upgraded last month...after the upgrade, FM RADIO wont work...then BLUETOOTH followed....why would nokia release an update that would downgrade the functionality?.....

I hear the company is going through a major transition, so nothing coming from them can surprise me too much right now... ![]()

My initial problems with my E72 were that when listening to the radio, it would cut itself off shut down and restart my phone on its own! At its worst I was getting 5 mins of radio at a time.
Was advised to wait for a software upgrade, 051.018, could never get it to download via my phone and kept saying no update available so connected through PC and downloaded the update.
For about 2 weeks my radio was working fine, never cut out. Now its worse than originally. Not only does it cut out my radio, it starts to shut down my phone but in the process actually freezes my phone and I have to take out the battery to reset it.
I didn't take on another contract to get a phone that I can't use the features on. :-(

I'd like to downgrade as well if possible. I skipped the last 'upgrade' in firmware, but decided to give this one a go. Had quite a few problems since.
Phone now freezes up and needs battery taken out to be restarted about once every 2 days. Always seems to happen at the worst possible times - like when I am I need to make an urgent business call. It's a bit ridiculous that in 2010 you can't rely on a high end phone costing over £300 to actually function when you need it to. Sitting in front of clients and having to take the back and battery off your phone and then waiting for it to restart for a simple phone call to head office is more than a bit embarassing.
Battery life also seems to have gone through the floor. I was getting about 3 days use from it. Now I am lucky if it lasts a day and a half in between charges. The battery meter used to be more accurate as well. Now it will drop from 3/2 bars to the moon power saving mode in a matter of minutes.
Email has started playing up too.
Not tried the radio recently, so no idea if that has gone too.

I've had problems with the phone shutting down / turning off on its own too. It happens every time I listen to radio and use the Web browser at the same time.
I've had a lot of other problems too, but really no point describing them here. I've tried finding a way to send feedback to Nokia, but there doesn't seem to be one...
I've been thinking whether I should've gone with BlackBerry instead of Nokia for a while now...
I would've got an iPhone, but you just can't get it for a "normal" price in Serbia, where I'm from. iPhone 4 16GB costs at least 700 euros (600 pounds) and the 32 GB version at least 850 (720 pounds). You can't even buy it at an Apple store, you have to get it on the "grey market".

Not quite "total", but it has become a bit of a parody of "its former self". How Shakespearean... ![]()

I hate to sound like a repetitive machine, but have you saved any relevant data and applied a 7370# reset after upgrading?
If you do not do this you cannot be sure that things will function properly.
It is a time-consuming process as the phone is returned to its factory state, but it solves and pre-empts a lot of problems. UNLESS the phone is physically defective, that is.
