Well you just add your email accounts with the other sim, then you can still use your old sim and it still works..

It took me some time to get the email sorted and whereas with Nokia msging you set it up remote and it seems to port it to your handset, this one seems a little new. But I read the manual [hate to admit it...] and it worked fine. Only problem was I had already set up the mailboxes manually, so had to delete them then start again, mine is locked to voda and it works well, but the handset still seems more complicated than the e71 in this area, but im sure there is more functionality.

sim cards do go bad after a period of time. but not sure why they had to go through a few new ones to get it to work?!
in the USA, there really is not a difference between the sim card to access the 3g or not...the only difference in sim cards was on the Nextel units.
if you have had your service for a period of time then i would go to the corporate store of the carrier you use and get them to give you a new sim card at no cost.

I had exactly the same problem as hanoilulu with setting up email. I think the problem is that the nokia messaging service that the E72 uses doesn't seem to work over wifi, only 3g (or maybe 2g) data transfer. As soon as I connected via mobile internet, the setup worked perfectly.

I have a similar problem. When i im done setting up my account i press hotmail and then the inbox shows up. Its empty so i press "connect" then a window pops up and it says choose connection so i choose my wlan connection. But nothing happens, a red sign shows in the top right corner. ![]()
Does anyone know what the problem is?

I had this problem too.. does your email end with @live ?? or @hotmail??
for some reason it sets it as IMAP instead of POP3..
I gave up, im using gmail instead, because that works fine..

I think for hotmail, the wizard dont work.. you have to manual set it..
maybe try manual setting it.. use google to search for the settings for hotmail, i think it uses pop3

enter your email and password..
once complete, you can change the settings and ports

Hi
As ruskytime has mentioned it works fine only when you have properly configurated 3g or GPRS connection. When I was using WLAN connection email configuration wizard always freezes and returns to 'select email account' window.
Another software bug?

yes he is correct, u must have 3g or gprs connection when setting up an email account.
wlan doesnt seem to let u set an email account.
but once set, u can use wlan to check emails instead of 3g or gprs

Same problem here.......worked first two times I was trying. Then installed Profimail, so much bettter....
Then I wanted to play around again with built in mail app and it just "crash" back to settings screen.
Cannot setup email. Will try different simcard method and see if it works.

Hi,
I got an E72 a few days ago, set up the email thru Hotmail - no problems at all. But I apparently had 2 different hotmail accounts - one "hotmail", one "hotmail(2)". In true idiot style I then deleted both accounts to see if I could start again with just the one. Now nothing works at all. I cannot set up the account again. What is going on? Any ideas?

OK fixed it.
GMAIL settings is now functional!
For some reason the emailclinet does the settings wrong.
in smtp settings u should mark "startTLS" and use port 587.
Now everything works.
Some bug in the nokia configwizard.....wierd...it worked the first two times I tried....
Hope it works for u guys.....

rastamanne,
this sounds good, but I have no clue where to begin doing what you have described. Could you walk me through what to in an idiot friendly way?
thanks

this is for gmail.
start the emailwizard.
choose others, not gmail when choosin mail.
type in some **bleep** in username and mailadress.
it will not work so settings will come back and u can change portsettings for incoming and outcoming ports.
go to advanced settings to do so.
see earlier post.

I also faced the same issue when I tried to setup gmail for the first time. But could setup it with the following two ways.
1. control panel->settings wizard ->operator -> select internet. Then try to setup gmail using email wizard.
2. email wizard -> setup using "other" instead of selecting gmail or yahoo.
I setup gmail using first setup and yahoo with second.

I can't do it even manually set up my / gmail - hotmail - yahoo / there are no option after (( other )) step I had to start the wizard & after the preparation step I turned my device to offline mode to lose the internet connection then I can chose the pop setting .
I think the bug is between the choosing account provider & downloading the setting from the internet -code.
& its sooooo slow retrieving emails
