I'm not sure why you're pressing the @ key at all.
You get : with a long press of the jey that has : and a full stop
You get - with a long press of the K
One press of the 'Ctrl Chr' key gives you the list from which you pick )
By the way, the most frequrntly used characters are in the top line in the first few boxes so the more you smile, the more the likelihood of the ) being the first character in the character list.
I'm assuming you have predictive text on here, I'm not sure if the behaviour of the keys is different with it off.
