Hi 2 everybody.
I bought an E72 some days ago, so my E71 it's free to do some tests. I always wanted to test the "Remote Wipe". According with some web pages (I didn't verified thru specs), E71 has a "Remote Wipe" feature. It works by remote locking and after that, trying 5 passwords, with no luck. I tested, and E71 only says "Too many retries, the phone will be unlocked in 5 minutes" or something like that (the message is in Spanish, so the real English message vary). But, after trying with too many passwords, the phone does not self-wipe. So... This feature is for real? Or is just a web hoax?

can you tell us how exactly have you tried?
thanx

According with some web pages, if you did that 3 or 5 times, the phone wipes all the data by itself. I tried writing wrong passwords 6 times. Nothing happens. I tried 4 more times, and nothing happened.

What a Remote Wipe will do? As the term it is well described here: Perform a Remote Wipe on a Mobile Phone .
* You can use this procedure to clear data from a stolen phone or to clear a phone before assigning it to another user.
BUT, the feature that E71 has built in, lock by sms, it is something similar in the way, that E71 has the feature to Encrypt the MMC, and once encrypted plus having the Remote lock active, your data in phone it is safe, and no one can access it!
Now do not understand Remote Wipe, as a complete Phone format!
