Hi. I just updated the firmware of my E71. A new feature which i find it very annoying is the new keypad autolock. I want to check if this is normal, or it is a problem on my E71.
On my E71 i have the keypad autolock disabled, while is phone lock is turned on (1 minute). In the previous firmare, i would only need to enter the lock code to unlock it. However, after i installed the new firmware, it will require me to unlock the keypad (left top key + key function) before i entre the lock code to unlock it; which is very annoying. Is this normal? Can i turn it off? I tried everything and it did not work, including turning on the keypad autolock for 59 minute. Please help, how can i turn this off. I want to keep the automatic phone lock feature, but i want to disable the keypad autolock.
Thanks a lot, Rabih

OK -same proble. For me it started when MFE asked me to enable autolock. I was typing too fast ooooops cliacked OK. What a pain. From then on, I could not disable the autolock.
So first I tried uninstalling MFE and rebooting. That did not work.
Then I tried:
take out your sim card and put in *#7780# to restore factory settings. you should not lose any data, but all settings will go into default. try that first.
That did not work for me. Then I tried:
the second option is a reset *#7370# this one will erase all of your data, 'wipe the phone clean' and restore to factory settings. see if any of these options work and if you are able to use your phone as you like/need to.
That reset the "autolock period" to none. Now I have to reinstall EVERYTHING and set it all up again...... What a pain in the butt, but at least my phone is usable again.
Lesson learned - never enable autolock because you have to wipe you phone clean.

You can easily disable it ,
Go to Tools
choose Settings
Choose General
Goto Security
Select Phone and SIM Card
scroll Down to Keyboard Autolock Period and choose None and you'll be all set
If you like the solution a Kudos will be welcome
Thanks

OK -same proble. For me it started when MFE asked me to enable autolock. I was typing too fast ooooops cliacked OK. What a pain. From then on, I could not disable the autolock.
When you connect to to the Exchange server, the admin can set a policy that is pushed down to the phone. If the policy is autolock on after 10 minutes, you can't change that. If you remove MFE, you still cannot change it. The only way to change it is through a hard reset of the phone.
But, if you have an application that lists/kills tasks, you can kill the autolock task and not have to deal with autolock until you restart your phone. I use ActiveFile to do this as our corporate policy is to autolock every mobile device.

Hi -
thank you for your suggestion to use ActiveFile to get rid of the autolock feature.
Can you please let me know what item has to be "killed" by ActiveFile. There are tasks, threads, processes, applications .... ? Many thanks !
René.

I got this to work for me. You can download JBtaskman from:
http://jbak.ru/jbaktaskman_en.php
Then press and hold the home key to start JBtaskman. Go to Menu->Tools->Processes. Scroll down to select "Autolock". Click Menu->Terminate Process accept yes. Your phone will no longer autolock and require a PIN. This also disables your keyguard lock. I carry my phone in my pocket so I end up pocket dialing people so I downloaded autolock at:
http://s60addons.com/autolock/
This allows me to lock the keypad, yet not require a PIN code to unlock. This step is totally optional - it depends on your preference.
Good luck
