E71 camera problems

HI

everytime I try to use my E71 camera, it tells that my "camera is in use by another application". What does that mean and how can I fix it so I can use my camera again?

Re: E71 camera problems

Press the "House" key for 2-3 seconds and see what other applications are running in the background. One of them might be using the "Camera" features. Close them if not needed.

Good luck.

Re: E71 camera problems

Hi, I took your suggestion and  there were two apps running in the background. I was able to close out one of them but the other one was a home screen application that I wasn't able to close out. I tried selecting it and pressing the backspace key to delete it like the previous one but no luck. So, my camera still cannot be used.

Re: E71 camera problems

Ok. Home Screen can not be closed. That's fine. I suggest:

1-First turn off the phone. Take out the battery and reinsert after 20 seconds. Turn on the phone and see if the camera is working or not.

2- If it still not working, try "Reset to factory settings" by entering *#7780#. This will reset your phone to default settings (your data wont be lost). Now try to see if your camera is working.

3- If still not working, make a backup of your phone data and then hard reset your phone (by entering *#7370#). All your data will be lost but no worries, you have the backup, right? The camera should work by now.

4- If still not working, the camera is definitely faulty and should be returned to a Nokia dealer for replacement :smileysad:.

Good luck!

Re: E71 camera problems

I took part of your first suggestion by just powering the phone off and then on without removing the battery and now my camera works!!! I was glad this worked because I didn't want to reset to factory settings(only as a last resort). This problem happened once before and I had reset to the factory settings to get the camera to work again. It was annoying to have to re-customised the personal settings on my phone again that's why I wanted find out a way to fixed the problem without having to reset to the factory settings again. I'm REALLY glad something as simple as just powering the phone off worked. Thanks for your help.

Re: E71 camera problems

I keep hitting this problem a lot and I finally figured out what's causing it. The problem for me is that the "back" button for most applications is the same button as the soft key for the camera on the home screen. If I hit it one too many times it turns the camera on. The next thing I do is hit the "hang-up/red" key and that terminates the camera app and locks up the camera since the application is not shutting down cleanly. Simple reboot as mentioned solves the issue. Just another fine bug in the software/user interface.  Problem has been there since the 200 version of the firmware. I'm at the 400 version on an E71-2 "USA" phone.

Re: E71 camera problems

Hello! I am having problems with my camera. Each time i press the camera button option it shows up but the screen is black. Also i downloaded the app for conversation view on the text messaging and it does not upload properly. After I keep trying different settings on my phone to get it to work, it shuts off on its own, and turns back on. I have tried taking the battery out for 20 seconds and putting it back in but this has not worked. I have also tried shutting it on and off with the battery inside of it. When i try to set it back to factory settings it flashes "end all active calls and connections first" I am unsure of what this means. Does my phone need to be returned. Thank you in advance for the advice.

Welcome to the forum!

Presumably you have started working you way through the set of procedures in post #4 by kambod further up the thread as a means of excluding any possible software corruption?ttp://discussions.nokia.ie/t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/E71-camera-problems/m-p/418436/message-uid/418436/highlight/true#U418436

If issue remains this would point towards a possible hardware fault.

If I've helped in any way, a click upon the white star at bottom right of screen would always be appreciated.

However if my answer also solves your problem clickingbelow it will benefit other users!

Re: E71 camera problems

I have done the reset back to factory settings I think by pressing the kys 3* plus green key turning on and holding keys. After trying 1 and 2.

My camera is still not working and I can see the homescreen is still disturbing it.

Do I have to go to a nokia dealer? or are their other solutions or things to try?

Thanks

Re: E71 camera problems

Hi I have a different problem. My E71 camera does not work. I keep getting the message " camera feature not supported", although I had taken some very good pictures using my E71. I did a software upgrade, but iot still didn't work.

Now I have another problem. My backed up messages do not get synced to the E71, while my pictures and contacts got synced.  Why is this happening??

Thanks for any help.
