E71 bluetooth problems.....Help!!

I recently received an E71 and paired it with my 2008 Honda Accord no problem, except when you try to dial out using the HFT (voice activated)system it freezes. It receives calls ok and if i use the handset it dials out through the HFT system ok. Is there something i have not enabled, a colleague at work is having the same problem in his Mitsubishi Outlander.

thanks in advance

Re: E71 bluetooth problems.....Help!!

Sundodger,

I get the same problem from time to time just using my Nokia BT headset. Have you tried upgrading to the latest firmware? I haven't had time yet but it has some BT fixes from what I understand.

Hi

Did you manage to sort out the problems you have pairing the E71 with the Honda accord? I have the same problem that I can't make calls with HFT in the Honda Accord.

Re: E71 bluetooth problems.....Help!!

Hi,  Anyone resolve this?  I picked up my new office phone (E71) yesterday and am having exactly the same problems.  Any upgrades available which solve this?

Honda know it is an issue - they say the approved phones have been tested and approved in accordance with Honda Handsfree Telephone interoperability standards. Johnson Controls and Honda Motor Europe are not responsible for irregular software or hardware issues these phones may experience that are outside of our testing scope.

Yes I know it well.  I flashed the -400 version (E71-2) with still no success.  I have a 2007 Acura TL.  Your HFL system is identical to mine (BT s/w version and HFP version).  The nice people at www.handsfreelink.com can do nothing until Nokia and JCI agree to test the phones and post the results.

What I am about to share with you is a very lame work-around, but it has worked for me for a year consistently.

1.  Pair the phone.

2.  Incoming calls should work fine once paired (you should see BATT and Signal LVL)

3.  I was unable to load the contacts into the NAVI with that phone so I can not help you there.

4.  Turn-on the "Show Call Duration" on your phone.  Menu>Settings>Calling

5.  Place all calls FROM THE HANDSET (Voice activate if that works for you which is safer)

6.  Look for Connection.  When the call connects you will see a timer beginning to increment 00:00.

7.  When you see the timer display, select the right shortcut key that says Bluetooth.  There will be a 2-3 second delay but you will be handed off to your car kit speakers with full volume control from the stereo system.

8.  You can hang up with the steering wheel control or using the phone.

The E72 is marginally better.  The T-mobile based Nokia 7510 works very well and the Nokia N900 also works (both use BT v2.1) although both phones are aligned with T-Mobile UMTS frequencies.  Nokia's implementation of BT version 2.1 may solve the problem but only time will tell.
