E71 battery issue

Hi,

I have a new E71 (bought last December).

The carrier is 3 UK (three.co.uk).

(1) When I use Skype chat for 30 minutes I lose 2/6 of battery

(2) I turned off the phone at 3/6 battery and this morning when I turned it on it was at 1/6 battery. How is it possible? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Why does (1) and (2) happen? Are these common?

Am I allowed to update my firmware (because I've heard that 3 doesn't allow it)?

If yes how?
