Since I got the Nokia E71, I have noticed one annoying bug, which I wonder if it is only specific to my phone or others too.

When I make a call and any of the following are true:

1. The called number is busy
2. A message is returned from the network of the number called, such as "the phone you are calling is switched off"..

I am unable to terminate the call on my E71 until the other message has repeated itself over and over again till it stops.

Is this something anyone else has experienced?

No this is a relatively new bug and none of us here I believe have had this problem..... now u cud be facing.

a network problem and contact ur service provider for help

or ur phone or its memory card cud also be the culprits.
try resetting it to factory settings and even try ur hard reset.... before u come to any conclusion also check ur memory card for any bugs or any uninstalled files or hidden ones too...

but do make a backup of ur device

I have simular problems. I takes as it seams forever for the message to disapear when the phone I'm calling is busy so I can use the phone again. I't does not "hang", but the feeling is tha is almost have because it becomes unresponsive.

I never had such problem with my phone yet, may be its something concerning the network, did you checked on other phones? if other phones are not having such problems then network isn't the issue, then probably its a new bug..

I'm staying in Malaysia and I'm having this problem too. The message will be show up in the screen and for that half a minute u can get any response from the phone.

Correct - so, it then appears that many other E71 users are having this issue! Unfortunately, I have so many packages and user data installed that makes me hesitant to do a software update, but nevertheless, I will attempt to backup the phone using Nokia Suite, do an update and see if the problem persists.

I will try to do the next software update and see if the problem clears, else, I'm actually getting irritated by this issue :-(

I upgraded to the latest firmware 200.21.118 and the problem is still not fixed. heck, even the purple camera haze is not fixed. arghh Nokia!!

I had a similar problem with my E71 some while back. I wondered if some software in the phone intruded.

Once I had uninstalled a call recording program downloaded from Mosh the name of which I no longer recall, the problem vanished.

Just a cue.

Aha - I do not have nosh on my E71, but I hope its not due to the Advanced Call Manager application, which was bundled with the phone.

I will de-activate it and see if it helps!

Hi.. I have had this problem across 2 phones now my 6220 Classic and my E71.. I noticed this only after updating my software to the latest versions.. if this is a bug then i'm sure nokia will be looking into a fix for it.. in the mean time i suggest taking it to a repair centre and asking them to rollback the firmware.. this worked for me

this happens to me also, when i dial a number and it it busy, but instead of the normal "beeeeeeeeeeeep...beeeeeeeeeep..." sounds it rather sounds quite fast like "beep,beep,beep,beep". The phone can't detect properly that this sequence is the busy signal and doesn't know what to do.

I had the same problem with my E65 und since a few days with E66, too.

The workaround is to deactivate the function "automatic redial". Then the phone terminate the call immediately after pressing hang up.

its wid my e71 too...but not alwaz .only sometimes.i guess it depends on the "Mood" of my phone

I am facing the same problem.

To Nokia: please improve! I am a buinessman, E71 should improve my productiviy but I am bogged down by E71 poor performance.

Yep - this did it, thanks. Such a simple solution to an annoying issue.
