E71 - Smileys

On the now old E61, I've read that it was possible to insert smileys (as in SMS) by pressing simultaneously the Chr + 'u' keys.

It doesn't seem to have an equivalent on the E71 (I have the NAM version E71-2, set to french writing language). When I press Chr + 'u', it displays (in sequence) every combination of 'u' letter with an accent on it ('ù', 'û', 'ü' , ... etc), but no smileys (emoticons).

Does anyone know the shortcut to insert smileys on the E71?

Re: E71 - Smileys

I just bought a E71 in France and I am very disapointed : it does not have any smiley, although the web guide by Nokia says that you can insert them pressing option and then options again (whre ther are only "models" of stupid senetnces like "i am in a meeting".....).

Another thing is that this E71 celular phone, bought in france, only comes with french, english and deutsh spelling. My NOKIA 601 that I used to have between 2000 and 2003 had all letters, for al latin and anglo saxon languages !

My be Nokia thinks that no one likes smileys anymore, and that no one in this world speaks spanish or portuguese anymore......... IT'S A SHAME, IT 'S RIDICULOUS and even MORE : IT'S A THEFT !!!!!!!!

Re: E71 - Smileys

The E71 runs on Symbian S60.

S60 phones does not have smileys pre-installed.

This is to make way as a selling point for the S40 phones i guess.

However you may download 3rd party applications which have loads of smileys.

You may try getting it from mosh.nokia.com

about the language options its more to country depandent and really depands on your product code.

As phones nowadays comes with more complicated features and software they just have to remove some unwanted features.

You may try getting these additional languages from a Nokia Care Points.

Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped... :smileyhappy:

Re: E71 - Smileys

Have had a look on mosh but cannot identify a collection of smileys as used in texts on my previous 6300.  Lots of wallpapers and special effects stuff, but all I wanted was to have the standard ones from the 6300.

Is this possible?

Re: E71 - Smileys

king is correct, there is no smileys on the n series and e series devices, the s40 enjoy that kind of feature. you can not get a freeware up with smileys either as far as i am concerned. mosh is either closed or closing and now it will be replaced by ovi store hopefully sometime in june 2009. i know only of one app that can do smileys but it is a paid app. i think its called A SMS but i can't remember for the life of me. i suggest you do some serach even on these boards for that info or google such app.

Re: E71 - Smileys

rad, the program you are thinking of is called A-SMS and it's available here:

www.myasms.net/index.php

I used to use it on the N82 and it worked well.  Not sure if it works with the E71 but there is a free demo to try on that link.

[ Edited ]

Hi there, I thought I would just let u know that  had no luck with the smileys on the E71.

I did manage to download them onto my phone usin the free 2 day tial period (wich has turned out to be less than 1) but the smileys & animaions were not visiable when sent to other peoples phones.

I'm not sure if this was because it was only a trial.

Re: E71 - Smileys

Hi cutesnuggles

I have no issues with Animated SMS sending between E71 and N95 where software installed on both devices.

Happy to have helped the forum in a small way from 2007-10

Is that right, the recipient needs A-SMS installed also?

Re: E71 - Smileys

I have downloaded the ASMS_v1_2_0_zlm_signed download to my E71. I have no idea how to make the smileys, other than the standard :-) is there a standard list somewhere for dummies?

Also, my phone doesn't show the picture on it's screen, but when I send to another phone is ok.
