Hello Guys,

I am a E71 User and from the time I bought I have been getting signal problems

• Most of the Time No Signal -
• When there is Signal - Calls keeps dropping
• When I try a manual search and get the provider and select them it gives an error message "No Access"
• When there is no Signal – I can still see the Provider Messages (e.g. which shows Area Information)

I have tried with Vodafone, Airtel and Spice and no signal in all of them

When I use the same SIM on other phones I can get full signal anywhere in Bangalore

What do I do ?

I have tried to format the card and the phone and nothing helps

this could be network issue did you buy the phone from a shop or privatly as it could be stolen also go to network settings and try using dual mode or gsm
if all fails bring it to nokia care centre

I bought a Box Sealed from a Store in Bangalore

I have tried both Dual Mode and GSM and still the same problem

Cant be a network problem because the same SIM works in other phones

Can you beat this, Satish & Jim? I have EXACTLY the same problem, and I too am in Bangalore. I have an Airtel connection, and I freaked out when suddenly I discovered that I am not getting low or no signal in the house while my wife and son with their Sony Ericssons have it on full strength. I tried all the things that Satish tried... no effect. Is this some kind of a bug on the phone or what?

I still have the same problem

My Spice does not work and Airtel too

Try this > Search manually to set the network and it says No Access > I spoke to Airtel Business Support and they say that phone is not trying to get into the network because they came and told me that every time you search manually it pulls up the network list and cannot do anything after that

I tried this

Hold the phone upside down and wait for few seconds and the network starts working but still can’t call as it says connection error

Same sim works fine in other phones - I am going to Nokia Care today or tomo - I will this post updated

Hello All,
I went to Nokia Care Center and waited for about 1 hour to get to the desk and when I told her that I have network problem. She took the phone and checked the IMEI Number and all that and then she said wait for 30 mins and we will check out the phone

After 30 mins other person came and told me that there is some hardware problem and he is going to send this phone to head office and get it fixed and takes about 15 days

I gave the phone to them and got a Job Sheet and I will have to wait

When I told him that there are so many people who have the same problem and why don’t you give them new phone with different batch and he said the Phones work fine with others and I was the first person - I am sure he was covering up.

Other person working in same place told me that Nokia has never told openly that some phones do have problems

People – Please start calling Nokia or Visit the Nokia care about this problem and let’s start informing Nokia this is a Phone problem

Hello All,
There are so many people who are having network, call drops Search Google for Network problems with Nokia E71 and you get thousands of customers having the same problem and in forums like AT&T, Vodafone and other Service Providers Forums there has been lot of customer with same problem

It’s Time that Nokia recalls this Phone and gives all this customer other phones which works

I have no idea what Nokia people are doing about it and it seems that Nokia Care is unable to fix people anyway

I got this problem few time initially, then I decided to do a hard reset, it still giving me problem, later on I get rid of advance call manager and my phone work like a charm, no problem at all since then.
You may try this option. As I suspect the "advance call manager" some time got crazy and block off all the call.

i've been told from a friend of mine who works at Nokia about this E71's signal problem..
he said, it is because the antenna receiver on this phone is on the bottom right (or left.. i forgot..)of the device.
so when your hand covers the bottom area.. the signal weakens..

i dont know for sure if it's for real or not.. but i tried to hold my E71 device a bit higher (around the middle area..) the signal then rise back up again..

again.. i am not very sure about this.. i'm just sharing the information that i got from my friend..

just tested it...youre right ! When i hold my phone at the bottom signal weakens, when I hold it in the middle signal rises...unbelievable

I've had the same problem but personally I think it's a joke. I've tried to put up with it but the reception is just awful, everytime I try and type a text message I lose reception halfway through! I'm taking mine to a service centre....

Hello,

I understand lot of people have tried a lot of things which includes

* Holding the Phone Upside Down
* Using Bluetooth and Keeping the Phone Upside Down with any blockage in open space
* Open the Battery Cover and then make calls
* Use the Headset and keep the phone in open air for better coverage

I have even read reports in which people have gone near the cell tower of Airtel to test and still no hope

I don’t think the above would work because when you buy a phone you need the phone to work when it is inside your pocket

There are many reports in which they say that Design has some major problem in few customer from AT&T and one of my friend has got replacement phones from Nokia and now Nokia is not opening their mouth about this issues
Lets wait and watch and see how my phone comes out with

Update: Called the Nokia Care center and they say they need more 7 days

I will start a Online Feedback Sheet for Nokia E71 in next few hours
