I've had my E71 a week now and for some reason after a few days of use when I press then Menu softkey the menu does not appear apart from in a rectangular box below the date/battery indicator - as if the menu is behind the phone screen. Upon restarting the phone everything returns to normal.

Any ideas to help me fix this?

Might be a firmware bug...

You can try the following solution:
1. Backup your phone
2. Reset the phone using *#7780#
3. If the problem still remains, then use *#7370# to reformat your phone

Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.

Not sure if anyone still having this issue!

I have found one workaround for this. Its working for me for quite some time now.

Workaround is simple:
Goto Tools->Settings->General->Personalisation->Home Screen->Key shortcuts
Change 'Left selection key' to some other application (other than 'Menu', the default option).

It works!

Yes, I had the same problem, but not often. Changed the shortkeys now. Hope it helps.

BTW... The advice of these Nokia 'experts' to reset your phone.. My gosh..

With every question this seems to be the standard procedure to scare people off or so and find solutions themselves.

It's just the same button sequence.

Instead of 'home' I put the clock on that button. Works great.

Gonna try it. It's irritating me a lot. If i restart my phone it'll be good for 1 or 2 days. Then I cant get into the menu anymore.

Reset is the easyest option for the nokia dev team indeed. I'm sure it's good then but in my opinion its not a good solution.

I have a problem with my Nokia E71. After a while, the phone becomes unable to get to the Menu screen from the Home screen. That is, when pressing Menu button, I am able to see a part of Menu screen popping up in the top right corner, but I can't access it. Looks like a window focus/z-order problem. I can still switch between apps already running but am unable to launch anything not present on home screen.
