ESSID (Network Name): <whatever>
Network Type: Infrastructure (or Access Point)
TCP/IP: DHCP
EAP Type: PEAP
Network Authentication: WPAWPA2
Data Encryption: TKIP/AES
Authentication Method/Protocol: MSCHAP-V2
Inner EAP Type: EAP-MSCHAPv2
I have tried every single combination --- just doesn't work.
It's 2010! iPhone and Andoid phones, I just have to enter my username and password, and everything just works. I go through a million hoops and yet on my e71 this network simply seems impossible to connect to !!!!
Solved! Go to Solution.

Try increasing the priority of PEAP and MSCHAPv2 in their respective lists. Have you set the authority certificate, if one is in use? Also the PEAP version may be a factor - I've enabled v0 and v1 to connect to my university network.
I'll can probably help you better if you provide me a link to the published connection settings of your network.

This is the page with the settings -
I am simply not able to connect irrespective of what settings I choose!

Turn off WPA2 only mode in the E71 and keep in mind that WPA Enterprise is not officially supported on the device.

I am planning on upgrading my phone anyway.
Is there any phone that supports WPA2-Enterprise from Nokia, in the newer series of phones?

Yes, the E75.

Cooool I think I will get myself one.
However, I notice that's S60 3rd edition .. is there no S60 5th edition phones with WPA2-Enterprise support?

I guess not. It's mainly the E-series that support WPA Enterprise.

Thanks a lot again. I am going to get it and see how it works.

Did you follow these instructions?

Set EAP/PEAP as priority and enable. Use the GTE CyberTrust Global Root authority certificate. Set EAP-MSCHAP v2 as priority and enable.

Yes. The thing is, for a particular set of settings, it shows "Connecting" for a looooooooooong time, giving some glimmer of hope, but then either ends up "WLAN not found" or "EAP authentication failed" !!!
I checked literally every possible combination of user name (hsunda3, hsunda3@lsu.edu, lsu.edu/hsunda3, lsu.edu\hsunda3), I tried leaving the realm empty, entering acs-wlan.lsu.edu and lsu.edu and there's no change either way
Oh well, hopefully I should graduate out of this university and go elsewhere where I can get a Nokia-Symbian supported network

That would be great. Good luck. ![]()

How is a link to the E75 description a solution to this problem?

How is this a solution for the E71 problem?
1. Switch from Nokia / Symbian to a different phone manufacturer / operating system that supports the necessary level of encryption (a.k.a any smart phone)
2. Move away and live in a place where the encryption used is one that is supported by Nokia.
That's about what I could get from this thread, and I gave up. I have tried everything I could. I have posted in every single Symbian / Nokia forum available. I have played with every possible setting in both my e71 and e72. Nope. No luck.
Oh well. The way things are going, S60 won't be around for long. I am guessing Nokia itself won't be around for long ;-)

its quite interesting how Nokia continues to ignore these genuine requirements. In my office entire team changed from E71 to to IPhone or android just because of this wlan problem.
i somehow tried to re convince myself and went for N8 .
The joke is on me . N8 has the same problem.
I guess the reason is symbian does not support TKIP encryption.
Well .... I am looking for a buyer for the N8 and will go for android.

Turn off WPA2 only mode.

I struggled with this for a long time and the solution was that I needed to install an Intermediate Authority Certificate, even though my employer's IT support didn't think it should be necessary.
In my case, the procedure for getting the appropriate certificate was found in other general documentation provided for connecting a notebook computer to the wireless network. If you can't find that yourself, try asking your IT how to obtain the wireless network's Intermediate Authority Certificate.
I downloaded the certificate to my Windows XP desktop, double-clicked it to open it in the Windows Certificate manager app, clicked the "details" tab, then "Copy to File". Save as a "DER Encoded Binary". Then copy this file to the E71 using Nokia PC suite. On the E71, find the file in the file manager, select it, and install the certificate with all uses checked. Back at the WLAN configuration, in the EAP-PEAP settings, select the certificate in the "Authority Certificate" field. That's what got it to work for me.
