E71 Barcode option in the tools does not read the barcode.
The red line box appears then becomes yellow.
I keep holding the box on the barcode and after some time reader goes in a standby mode.

Can someone help?

the E71 Barcode Reader or any Barcode Reader in any nokia can phone for that matter can only read a 2D barcode, also know as mobile codes, it can not read your ordinary barcodes on the goods...

What's annoying is that the icon for the scanner application depicts a 'regular' bar code... Does anyone know of a symbian app that reads 'normal' barcodes?

Hi Guys,

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place  

I'm thinking about buying the E71 soely to use as a scanner, I would use it as part of my work but I don't use it enough to warrant paying this kind of money just for a barcode scanner  

what do you think, should I go with the E71 or a different model.

 I have bought Quickmark and it can read 1d line barcode without any problem.

However, the issue now is to immediately have whatever is being scanned send to my laptop. If you are just looking for a 1D line barcode to record information onto your handphone, I think Quickmark will do just fine.

hi, i know this is off tpic but please can anyone help me figure out why my e71 cant connect to my linksys wireless N router:

it only says network found and when i start browsing notice will say "unable to connect, wlan network not found" please i need your opinion and knowledge about this problem.

please do help me guys, my router woks fine with my PC and my dell mini10. thanks in advance!

I also bought Quickmark and have the same problem like you. Do you find out how to send barcode number to laptop? Or do you know how to export history of scanned codes and save it as file right into phone?

UpCode reads regular Barcodes I think you can get it from the nokia page cos when you try to use that "create your own Barcode " thing, it says it you have to Barcode reader you can click here or something so click on that, then find UpCode

I downloaded an Upcode app which claims to scan 1D barcodes. However it has not been able to scan any till now. Quite disappointing when you see your friends' Android apps scanning it in seconds.

Have you tried to change from 2d to 1d from the settings? That worked for me. However I found i-nigma to be a lot better product at least here in the States. I tried Point & Find by Nokia, and it didn't work in offline mode, this one does. You can also modify it a bit through settings.
