In this new firmware:
- now call delay is for outcoming calls too!!!
- can't activate loudspeaker at start of call.. only when call is connected to the net!!!!
This firmware is the worst...

Backup your data on the phone and try the *#7370# reset. It is good practice to reset following a firmware update.

After upgrade, i have done hard reset with 3 buttons ![]()
So, reset isn't universal solution for every problem or bug ![]()

I am from INDIA. I was using firmware 400 when i thought to upgrade it to 410.21.010 at NOKIA CARE. After upgrading ... i came back and attached it to my laptop's Nokia Ovi Suite and it displayed the latest version is 500.21.009. I called back the Nokia Care but they had NO CLUE about the Latest version. Then i called the Bangalore Head Office of Nokia Care but even THEY HAD NO CLUE.
What a mesh ... Finally, I tried to update it via Nokia Ovi Suite's updater and Just completed the update.
So, informing all my friends ... that NOKIA CARE is itself LESS informed about its products and updates !!!

it is not like this Mr Swaroop.
whenever a new firmware is released it comes in two formats
Sometimes new firmware is uploaded over the web prior to the dristribution to the Nokia Care moreover the firmwares are country specific.

Does anyone know what's new or updated in this firmware? It would be good to see the release notes on the update.

In answer to my own post, found this blog with a changelog for the new firmware:
http://dailymobile.se/2010/07/02/nokia-e71-and-e66
One thing that worried me a little was that it states that the Maps application has been upgraded to " Maps 3.03 Lite which has Free Navigation support". **bleep** is Maps Lite? I've already downloaded Maps 3.03 and am running it on V410 firmware, so wouldn't be too happy about only getting a cut down version with the new software, particularly if it wasn't upgradable to the "full" version. Anyone know anything about this?

What I don't understand about Nokia is why they have such a lousy firmware update team! They have messed up X6 handsets with buggy firmware that disables the internal GPS! and now the new E71 firmware update that disables the "Loudspeaker" button when initiating a call! Shame on you Nokia. You are the biggest handset seller in the world for god's sake. Keep yourself together can clean up the mess!

Yes Bro Shailendraraj,
You are right. But the NOKIA CARE should / ought to have the LATEST information about its developments, because any customer expects to rely on them and when someone encounters this situation like me... it shows the communication gap between the NOKIA HeadOffice and the NOKIA CARE.

I agree. I didn't notice any improvement and I also can't activate loudspeaker at start of call.
This is really annoying when you drive a car and you want to turn on the loudspeaker at the beginning of connection.
I regret firmware update.

Friends,
In my opinion, 500.21.009 is the best firmware for E71 till date. Earlier my phone was very slow, After opening 4-5 applications at a time, it was hanging. Many times it was restarting automatically. I was seriously thinking to go for a new model.
After updating firmware to 500.21.009, I am just surprised with speed of phone. It has become so fast. Even if I open more then 10 applications, it works like a charm. Now I am satisfied with performance of phone. Today I tested my phone by opening 23 applications at a time and found that phone still working with good speed without any problem. Just check attached screen shots, free RAM is only 2.3 MB.
I did not found any type of call delay nor any GPS problem, phone has become much stable.

i tried to update my phone with the latest version ie 500.21.009 but this stupid ovi updater shows all sort of different errors every time i try to install the downloaded software! even after the phone has been connected properly it says "the phone is not connected" or "please try later ovi is currently busy" n also "error 12017".**bleep**???i think the engineers are just warming the place n doing nothing.they really need to upgrade the standard.earlier i had n70 which i can never to my laptop using the usb!n now updating e71 is gonna take my life..!! i should have bought blackberry instead..
