I am on T-mobile with an E7. When I try and text my friend with Verizon the message gets broken up and spaced out L     I   K E t      h is. And usually the whole message never displays. This happened twice on two different Verizon phones. One after a while was fine again sending messages normally while the other one still has the problem. Ive tried resetting the phone (power off power on) deleting contact, sending text in threaded and single message reply. I have also updated the phone to the most recent software as of March 15, 2011 6:45 PM.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

You can try this go to settings >application settings > messaging > text message > character encoding change it to Full support, by default it is Reduced support. You can also contact Verizon and check if they have any problems reported recently about this. Out of topic what's the firmware version number on your E7? You mentioned you got the latest of that of 15th March.

my character encoding has been always set at full support. would you know of anything else? currently the phone is not available yet in america but I will try and see what vzw has since it is a basically unheard of phone at the moment. My firmware is 14.x.

Also check for the same character full support in the recipient end. Verizon's meddling with the generic firmware possibly have screwed the mesaging app? not sure maybe Verizon can answer.

I am not sure because one of the verizon phones always having problems is a standard basic phone. And the other is a android phone where sometimes the message would mess up and later be fine again...I guess for now a talk to verizon. Also I am not sure why but my phone did restart itself today for the first time...

I would suggest this is an operator issue, I have had the phone for a month now in the UK and have sen and racievedt txt messages to and from all the UK networks and Blackberry, HTC, Nokia ,iPhone and Samsung phones, without an issue ! Either that or there is an issue with your handset ? Can you send messages to other phones ? If yes, then the Nokia is sending data correctly, if ALL your contacts receive B  rok  en Mess    age s then the issue may be your handset !

yea i send and recieve fine to everyoone besides verizon....i dont think its the phone but its odd how itd send broken messages to verizon phones. And i guess the resetting thing is common?

i can send mms with text and pic to the verizon phone that always recieves br o o k en messages fine like the text and pic all come out fine its just when i send a standard sms. Where it would always recieve broken messages. Ive tried both character enccodings and still no luck...

my phone does the same thing when I text its get all broken up or the reciever has weird characters for example @#%$%$%^$ like that when I clearly texted something on my end. I can watch the conversation what I texted and then l at the receiver end persons phone and it comes up with random characters. This is my first time having this issues and its a phone issues because I can text this same person wit my E73 and it works fine.
