hi i have PR1.1 014.002. when i do *#7370#, data is not erased, only settings are restored. any ideas? tks.

hmm that might be due to udp - user data preservation if you need all data gone, just make sure you have a back up of your stuff you might want to do a hard reset. this is not very wise as it removes certain component from your phone including ovi store and qt.. it is not advised for just general data clean up. you can search for hard format/reset on the boards just make sure you are educated what it might imply for you in a long term.

hi thank you. yes, am aware of data-loss and do have a back-up. but i do want to wipe the device so that i can give it to someone clean. suggestions pl. tks.

menu - settings-phone-phone management- factory settings - delete data and restore ?

hey tks. i have done the following things: 1. re-install firmware from ovi suite 2. *#7780# 3. *#7370# 4. restore data from phone management menu 5. delete and restore data from phone management menu nothing works and UDP does not give up! data is still there! i searched this board as well, called nokia care, emailed nokia care, but no answer. any wild idea/ insight is appreciated. will symbian anna solve this issue?

ok this is the last resort just know it might be a mess press and keep holidng the following keys: menu, volume down key, camera key and power button key. hold them all until you feel the phone vibrate, release the power button and keep holidng the other three buttons until you see the nokia logo. if this does not work i have no idea what is going on. with this you lose all data phone memory and e memory wiped all !

You have my sympathy as also found that even if firmware re-flashed on N8 after three key depressed power on with nothing restored as soon as OVI Store opened it asked for password for original user to be confirmed. The only way it was truly wiped clean was after several unsuccessful attempts at inputting "Unlock code" it had to be sent away for network to cable unlock device!

tks radical! it worked. it wiped device clean, removed pre-installed apps but retained the core apps such as office etc. phone memory now 400mb! tks once again.

aspergerguy- am sorry but radical's suggestion (obviously all over the web, but he had to suggest it and i had to do it) worked for me. don't know why your N8 did that. sorry once again.
