hi everybody,it's me again - the one that started the topic
.
I apologize for being silent for so long
.
the current situation is:
- the initial problem- it just disappeared one day
! I did nothing, no "reset", no "format", no nothing...I just noticed that the phone started to wake me up every morning and... that was it! To be honest, I waited for a long time to see what happens, before going back to the forum to tell you, and... yeah, I apologize for being so late
...
going further:
- ever since I bought the phone, Nokia released 2 software updates in my area (I understand they are not all released everywhere, or, at least, not in the same time) .
- I installed the first one in December; everything went ok.
- I installed the present one, 200.21.118, 1 week ago, and guess what
? a combination of the old problem and what is now happening to "e66steve": if i set the alarm clock, and turn on the phone after the alarm clock rings -> after a while, the phone current date goes 3 days in advance ![]()
!!!
that is so annoying, and it makes me laugh b/c it makes absolutely no-sense ![]()
!!!
it's like this (as an example):
- Thursday night i turn the phone off, knowing that i have the alarm set at 6:45am, as usual.
- Friday morning the alarm rings, i turn it off; i am asked if i want to turn the phone on, i say "yes"...
- the phone turns on; i check my agenda for the day; i can see it's Friday !!!
- i take a shower, i eat and go to the office...
- in the office, some alarm start ringing and... surprise !!! it's the alarm for the meeting i have on... next Monday morning !!!
- i dont understand, i look at the phone and... surprise!!! the phone's current date is Monday ![]()
!!!
It doesn't happen immediately... it takes around 30 minutes until I notice the the phone has change itself the current date...
It is related to the alarm clock, in my opinion! If I wake up before the phone does
, and I start it manually (so, I don't wait for the alarm clock to ring and the phone to ask me if I want to turn it on) - everything is ok...
it is really annoying, and yet it makes me smile, b/c it really is such a silly bug!!!
I don't understand how come Nokia can come up on the market with this kind of silly bugs...
as "e66steve" says: I would expect more, when I know I paid so much money for the phone!I bought it to be a business phone, and I was expecting to rely on it.
I smile at the bug, but sometimes it can get serious: some mornings are Wednesday mornings, for example, and I have a meeting at 9:30... it's 9:20 and I wonder why is it that my phone hasn't notify me yet... I take a look at it and... it's Saturday there, in it's little brain, not Wednesday, as I saw in the morning, when it woke me up ![]()
...
my questions, now:
- has anyone else encountered the same bug (or similar ![]()
![]()
... seems like Nokia is inventive and likes diversity, with bugs...)
- do you think re-installing the latest update, the 200.21.118 one, would make any sense...?
thanx!

Videoschabe, please do not link false solutions. All the warkarounds, updates and resets proposed here or in your link are not acceptable solutions, since they do not solve any problem. Your post was entitled "accepted solution", this means that it will make waste some people's time, just as it occurred to me.

Hi everybody, I'm here just to update people who are also affected by this problem.
Yesterday I went to my 3rd nokia (s)care center, where finally I met a sincere and nice guy, who explained me things like they really are. This problem (alarm not working with the phone switched off) is not solvable at he moment. Nokia has not a solution, and it isn't gonna replace any unit at anyone, including Nokia employees.
The guy told me that legal actions are not advisable because on the manual of the phone, there are no indication that the alarm should work with the phone switched off.
In the manual, that you can quickly download here,at page 12 it states: "to use any features in this device, other
than the alarm clock, the device must be switched on."
At page 103 I read: "If the alarm time is reached while the device is switched off, the device switches itself on and starts sounding the alarm tone."
It seems to me that a feature of an expensive device is not working properly. And it also seems to me that Nokia isn't acting properly in this scenario

hi,
Just wanted to tell you that I have upgraded the phone software to ver 300.21.012 last friday, and the alarm-clock problem seems to be fixed (tested 4 days). The current date doesnt jump in the future anymore, after pressing "snooze" and then agree to turn on the phone.
Also, it seems to me that the phone starts faster, but this could be just my opinion...
Pretty late fix of the alarm-clock bug, but still - glad they finally did it...
