I am now running firmware v2 (generic nokia euro, not operator branded, and so far phone has not seemed massively different, but I haven't exercised it too much. Thanks for these comments folks.

I've spent about 3 hrs talking to Nokia ( who swear that by downloading a new version of Blackberry Connect it will work) and my Operator ( who say it's not their problem as its 3rd party software.

My short term solution is to backdate my firmware ( to version 1 etc). Does anyone know where I can download this?
There is an updater, but what I need is a backdater. Just wondering if I got a CD for the original firmware ( I did get ne with Manual etc)

Many thanks

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

you can not downgrade the firmware with NSU. in my opinion only nokia service points can do this.

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

a little bit offtopic: and this is just because nokia decided not to release changelogs. in case we knew what has been altered and whether there are any regression and delayed bug fixes we could easily decide which way to go.
i must admit that it is impossible to test the new firmware against every addon on the market. but key ones (like exchange and balckberry connect) especialy with e series should work even after an upgrade.

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

Completely agree..

For E-series that possibility to receive push emails and to use blackberry functionality is well underlined in the main characteristics of the phone.
it's incredible!!!

re: blackberry connect
Have you tried removing everything from the phone, doing a hard reset and then re installing the newest version of the program? If nokia say it will work, I see no reason why it shouldn't.

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

Adamwest,

I have tried everything...I update phones firmware since even before Nokia released NSU, I have a certain experience.

Instead, I have no trust...because it's not the first time Nokia has really no idea of what customer care is: also Nokia E60 remained for months without blackberry connect or also other problems with different phones that are not related to Blackberry Connect...

Nokia maybe said...it will work: obviously without saying WHEN, as usual

I have contacted Nokia, Vodafone and Blackberry and no one took the responsibility of the problem!!!

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

My local Nokia Center (Zürich, CH)could not manage to downgrade to V1.x

Does anyone have experience with a successful downgrade from 2.x to 1.x?

Seeing other comments, waiting for blackberry connect to be supported for v. 2.x might be a long process...

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

My local Nokia dealer is also astonished - he has the same phone but does not use BIS.

Finally, Nokia support admits that Firmware 2.0633.65.01 is not compatible with any of the downloadable versions of Blackberry Connect on their site. There are different versions for T-Mobile, Vodafone, SFR and 'other' on the European download site. T-Mobile does load on my e65(strange) and gives 2 versions-Blackberry Solution and Instant Email but as I have the local 'Proximus' provider neither work. The remainder of the dowloads are rejected as not compatible.

Nokia says that an updated Blackberry Connect will follow but do not know when.

I'm astonished that there is no alert before upgrading to warn that Blackberry Connect will be cut off. It's a key selling feature of these multifunctin devices.

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

You're right!!!

I'll never feel tired to say that they are selling a product (if with 2.0633.65.01 software) that has not a key functionality for which they sell the product.

It's unbelieveable

Nokia support said that it was not possible to
downgrade once an upgrade had been performed.

Re: E65 firmware kills blackberry

Well still no update for my code for Firmware.

I would really love to get a "100% Generic" firmware so I don't have to deal with waiting and any operator software induced issues.

Pesonally I trust Nokia to make me a nice phone. I don't want my **bleep**py carrier who is PRETENDING to be involved in software having anything to do with my phone.

New E65 firmware, new blackberry firmware to match

well, after all of my whining against Nokia I downloaded
a new version of Blackberry Connect ( on the Nokia site a
week after the firmware upgrade...and it now works.

Thanks for being only a week out of sync, Nokia.

Need to call your operator to send to your phone a new
set of Service Books before the BIS service works. Now it
all works fine.

No more blocking when I disconnect from bluetooth, as with the original software.

So far, so good

Re: New E65 firmware, wlan issue solved by adding security

Since I upgraded I have not been able to connect to my wireless network at home. I tried changing channels and removing mac-filtering. But no success. When I added WPA security it worked fine.... The new firmware does not connect to all networks at first try.

Thanks for the info jacekza!!!

This issue still need correction, I get lots of "out of memory" exception with the built in browser, with Mini Opera 4 it never happens. Eg. Facebook.com always throws exceptions with the built in web browser.

Re: New E65 firmware, wlan issue solved by adding security

Iwan18, try doing a hard reset.
Type in *#7370# password '12345'.
Then test the vibration without doing a restore of the backup.
