Re: E65 firmware

Not sure if this is a different set of problems to everyone else but I have bugs which I'm pretty sure are software related and off which I know I could get Vodafone UK to switch my handset but I don't know if that would fix anything. They're disavowing all responsibility for phone software.

I'm on firmware:
"1.0633.58.02
16-01-07
RM-208
Nokia E65"

Problems include:
- regular and unpredictable rebooting (as in a few times a day)
- wait of a few minutes to read 1st email after synching my Mail for Exchange
- clock goes haywire (as it when left on Auto Update it thinks it's goes back in time) when I use Offline mode and switch networks even same timezone (e.g. flying UK -> Ireland)
- prompts for the Lock Code when using the hard buttons for contacts or email but allows navigation into those areas via the menu

Any clues where I could go for tech support? Is there a later version of firmware available? Nokia's Phone Software Update (http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate ) doesn't even feature the E65!

All your problems are known bugs that the E65 suffers from.

For some reason nokia seems to have abandoned the E65.

All us E65 owner live in hope that a firmware update may appear some time in the near future.

Re: E65 firmware

I decided to sent Nokia a message using their web page
http://www.nokia.co.uk/email

This is what I wrote:

Dear Nokia,
Whilst my E65 is mostly a good phone, it is marred by some small faults, such as with the wireless lan, voip calling...

I am very disappointed that Nokia have not put any effort into providing updated firmware for the phone which solve these small problems. If these little issues were fixed it'd turn a good phone into a great phone!

Please don't ignore the E65 users in favour of the N95 which seems to have received all the attention (and problems!) - please don't turn your back on the rest of us who wanted a good solid communications device and not an all-singing all-dancing smartphone.

There are times I feel like putting my E65 on ebay and going back to my old trusty 6310i!!!

Re: E65 firmware

I sent a similar email to them and the reply I received was:

"Contact a nokia service centre".

Nokia support staff are a joke.

Re: E65 firmware

they need enough people to start complaining before they notice it.

at least we don't have the exploding battery problem (well, not one that's known)

You would better write:
going back to my old trusty sony ericsson

Nokia staff are ignoring us. I have been following the forum for weeks now and I read many complaint about E65 not being supported by NSU but no answer from Nokia.
I wonder why they put this forum online, if the answer is going to be "to share knowledge between nokia customer" than u'd better close it as there are plenty of other useful forums online, this one should better be about support!

Re: E65 firmware

I'm tempted to sell my E65 but the only two other phones I like are Nokia's. The 6500 slide and 7900 prism look great!

Looks like I'll have to keep selling my soul to the devil.

Related to the problems with the E65, I´ve had two of them. The first one after a week of use, the keypad stopped lighting. Nokia changed me the phone. The second one has aleatory reboots when making a call or navigating with GPS or completilly alone or.... so I gave it to a Nokia Care Center.

The phone was for repair for almost a month but they changed a component: DRIVERMODULE D381B 5X7 QFN.

After that the phone has never reboot.

After my experience I´m starting to believe that the E65 series has a hardware bug that affect to a big amount of phones so Nokia don´t want to include it in the NSU. When you make an update, the phone runs a test and is possible that with all the phones that has the problem it will appears an error......

Re: E65 firmware

The two only problems I had with my E65 so far : I guess they're not really problems but here we go :
- After using it for a while, the voice dial system stoped working. "No vocal ID" it would say. A hard reset solved it.
- Double applications. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature, but the application manager and the web applications are there twice. Hard reset wouldn't solve the problem.
