E65 New Message Alert

I've just got an E65 and I've noticed that when I get a text message I only get told there's a new message, not who sent it.

On my old Sony it would display the name of the person who sent the message. Is there anyway to do with my E65?

Re: E65 New Message Alert

Hi,
On your "Active Standby Screen" you will only see "1 new message".
When you open this message, the name of the sender is shown above the message.
Also in you inbox you will see a list of all your messages, with the name of the person (left) and 1st line of the message (right).

Also on all my previous Nokia`s you only got the message (1 new message) on the main screen. Not the sender in there.

Hope this helps,
Bas

Re: E65 New Message Alert

Thanks for clearing that up.

You don't know how to get the inbox to list names as First Last, instead of Last First?

Re: E65 New Message Alert

Go to Contacts - Options - Settings - there you can select First name Lastname or Lastname Firstname.

Make sure that you have the Firstname in the right place, check you contacts through PC Suite for easy changing.

The easy thing about the E65 phonebook is that it doesn't matter, which is first. In the contacts you just start typing part of the (first or last) name and it will show you all contacts with those letters in starting in their (first or Last) name.
Example:
type in PE
It will show you:
- Peter Johnson
- Ulf Pederson

Re: E65 New Message Alert

That covers the Phone Book, as you mention, but the OP was referring to the names displayed in the Inbox:

"You don't know how to get the inbox to list names as First Last, instead of Last First?"

I've wondered about the same thing myself...

By the way, I only see the last 2 messages, not all the messages in my inbox. Is that configurable?

Thanks

Re: E65 New Message Alert

The last name first name display for contact in the SMS inbox is completely retarded. If you enter a contact into your contact list with their entire name in the 'first name' field, then the SMS inbox will display a message from that person with first name last name. That's good.

But if you put the contact's first name in the first name field, and their surname in the last name field, the inbox will display them in last name first name order. That's just dumb. And btw this is all with the contact list set to show first name last name.

How can there be no setting to change this? So annoying.

Re: E65 New Message Alert

Is there a way to do either of the following:

a) Change your message alert to something not already stored in the phone (ie: downloaded tone etc)

b) Once receiving a new SMS and the note appears with "1 new message" is it possible to open your inbox first instead of opening the actual SMS first?

I know they sound like dumb questions but sometimes, I like to go to the inbox prior to opening a new message. I'm just use to that!

Thanks
